Hello,

did your knowledge about the crusades and the Renaissance improved, because of AC and AC2? Did you get interested in the cursades/templars/assassins/renaissance/venice/medici/ etc. etc???

Just wondered.

Well, duh!
AC made me realize how much I love history and now I want to be a historian!!!
Also, how do you think I got so hyped on the Renaissance? lol, AC had me interested in all sorts of time periods then I really got into the Renaissance and I when I found out the second game was going to be taking place in the Italian Renaissance....
you can imagine my excitement Big Grin

Being an artist myself, I've always found the Renaissance period intriguing, inspiring and fascinating. It's when art and science as we know them today were first born.

Of course, like what the developers mentioned in one of the interviews, it's mostly the positive side of the period that we are used to hearing about. What we know so far about AC2 made me read up more about the political drama of the Renaissance and the characters it involves. (Sounds like some novel. lol)

It was a turbulent time period indeed, but I have gained more respect for all the great minds that have managed to raise the bar in human ingenuity and history, despite the rough political times.

On a side note, I really want to visit Venice now. Big Grin

It's 15-18 because of intense violence, sexual content, and strong language.

If you really want to learn more about history, I'd recommend a history book. Wink

@ Uchiha: Oh, you know. Googly

@ nitres155

Nobody was attacking you, and this is probably the wrong thread to discuss the age bit in. Wink

But yh its good that a game makes the player want to learn more about the time period and history in general including what is happening today.

Edit: ok i type too slow; Laurenissomosh is attacking you, but it is the wrong thread for both of you! lol i sound so old and grumpy or i sound like a mod (not tht i mean u mods are old grumpy people Blush)

+ ac2 has made me want to visit Italy even more to.

LaurenIsSoMosh dealt 64 damage points. Nitres155 flinched!

I'm not sure how that's "attacking" him. I just told him it's rated 18+ for a reason and tried to point him the age-appropriate direction. >_>

Actually, I'm quite the amateur historian on the Crusade and while I quite enjoyed the game, a lot of the details bugged me, especially because I knew they were oputting gameplay first. But one thing I found very odd was that you assassniate William of Montferret and not his son Conrad, who WAS killed by Assassins. Amd while most assume Al Mualim is Rashid ad-Din Sinan, they cleverly added in traits and episodes traditionally associated with Hassan-i Sabbah, the Assassin's founder. I was also pleased they remembered to give Richard a French accent.

Quick! Use Hyper Beam Attack!

Anyway, yeah, Medieval/Renaissance times have always been somewhat interesting to me, Medieval in particular, so AC kinda added fuel to my interest :P

I have read 4 books and have 6 more lined up to brush up on my history before the game comes out and to read during my down times from the game (mainly just usig the bathroom and eating haha).

I ordered alamut from the library a month ago and I just got it yesterday. It will be interesting to read it after reading so much on the real assassins.
