Following our recent statement regarding the freeze issues that some consumers are facing with Assassin’s Creed on PlayStation 3, we can confirm that we are actively working on a game update. This update will help improve the stability of the game and will be released as soon as possible. In the meantime thank you for your ongoing feedback and patience.

I look forward to the patch, although I've now returned my game (I was not willing to wait and lose the oppourtunity of a refund) I will re-purchase when a working patch is released
Backup - those still suffering crashes i'd really reccomend you back up your system and game saves! |

 The update would be released online yes and I'm unsure about any offline methods of updating your PlayStation 3. |
