Remember when Altaïr assassinated the second target of Damascus. the target had killed his guests with poison. After returning to the bureau, Altaïr states that poison is a coward's tool.
Well, remember the video of AC2? Ezio uses his hidden blade to POISON a guard who kills the target for him. wouldn't that make Ezio a coward then? Razz Or has the definition of honour changed in the Rennaisance Razz

It probably has changed. But I think the distinction is that Ezio is delivering that poison himself rather than tainting some food/drink.

Different characters, different era, and one word to sum it all

Your choice! Wink2

Think that poison is a weapon for sissy, or that real man fights bare handed? Give it a shot, it may not be the easiest way, but it could be really fun Smile

Well Ezio doesn't really mix the poison into food or drinks like Abul (correct me if i spellt it wrong) He goes up close and insert the poison with the hidden blade, so i think Altair would approve of it Tongue
*edit I have read a little about the Hashshashins on wiki and one of them left a poisoned cake (Probably where the forums assassins cake joke came from xD) in Saladins tent and a note. And Edward | of England was wounded by a poisoned Hashshashin dagger.

If I remember correctly, the Hashshashin believed that any weapon that is usually used from a distance (like bows and poisons in drinks and food [which could be sent to the target and there is no obvious killer].) This was considered cowardly as you weren't at the actually performing the kill themselves, and could too easily escape. Also, they like to be known for their killings.
However, Ezio's poison is injected (which wasn't possible in Altair's time) and he is within a few metres of the target, so this probably would be considered less cowardly (probably still frowned upon it tho if Altair was still around.)
Also, Ezio isn't a Hashshashin, he's just an assassin. So he has different beliefs.

I maybe wrong about the Hashshashin beliefs as I read about it a while ago and I'm doing this from memory.

I don't really see how poison is a coward's tool... do you know what it takes to infiltrate a target's quarters, poison their food/drink and exfiltrate without getting spotted? And shanking someone in a dark alley isn't exactly "heroic".

Good point (had to do a bit more reading), but they only wanted to be exposed when they kill their target. So, Altair would only used throwing knives on guards to avoid detection. They wanted to be feared by the public, which can be achieved best by killing well guarded men in a public place. So, I guess using throwing knives (which are relatively short distance) on guards (and unimportant people) would have been acceptable as long as it was to avoid detection.

that would also explain why important people seem to be immune to throwing knives in AC Razz

I think the point in AC1 is: you work for the brotherhood of assassins, who want their work to be noticed by the people.
in AC2, you sometimes get messages from random people who want u to kill someone unnoticed, making Ezio more of a freelance hitman.

Our friend and script writter Corey May gave me more information about that.

In fact there are several documents discoverable in the game that will explore the evolution of the Assassins over the year, and also about their creed. There is a reason for the use of poison and you'll have to wait for about a month to find out Razz

The teasing part is from me... as you can tell Razz

Not really. The explanation will more than likely be posted here within a week after launch.
