I bought a HP Pavilion dv7-1070ee last September when it was the most powerful laptop HP had at the time. Runs AC1 smoothly, I bought it when there was a lot of rumors that SC2 was gonna come out soon, hehe. Now there's HDX18 I think; it's a quad-core, but a huge and heavy beast. I also draw vinyl designs in Illustrator, and have them cut at the copy center and stick them on my laptop B)

Oh and BTW, I also bought an HDMI cable, and from time to time, I don't play AC1 on my laptop's screen, but on a 32" HDTV Smile I'm having some issues I haven't been able to resolve regarding the image being larger than the TV's screen Frown if anyone can help, I'll give you a cookie, or a candy. Your choice.

i know it seems stupid, but did the TV come with a large remote control ? [i dont mean colossal, i just mean bigger than say a dvd one with just stop/start, fast forward/next chapter, volume etc. etc.]

Because sometimes there is a button on the remote control [on mine its called "wide"] that will take you through the different picture sizes eg:
Cinema [being fullscreen]
Wide [being widescreen obviously]
auto [a slightly shrunken version of 'cinema']

it might be set on the 'cinema' setting and instead needs to be on 'auto'

I am playing AC but its very slow, but a friend of mine with the same config is running the game with high settings and with full Anti Aliasing and is very smooth for him.
Even Fraps cant show me the fps I am getting. It makes a weird design.

My CPU config:

Intel MotherBoard DG31PR,
E8400 3.00 ghz Core 2 Duo Processor,
4 GB Ram,
Gigabyte 9800GT 1 GB DDR 3
Windows XP Service Pack 2

My friend has the same CPU but he has 512 MB version of the same card.

He does not even overclock his PC and he gets a very smooth game.

Hmmm... have you tried re-installing AC? And does your friend have Windows Vista (required to run DX10)? Try the Tech Help forum for further Assassistance. Mean Happy
That was lame.

Old post, I know. But you're really underestimating a laptop's cooling functions. AC1 runs smoothly for me and my notebook barely gets hot.

he's not actually under estimating them it is only a small minority that can actually cool them self well. before taking into account if you place a laptop on carpet or just about anything soft it will block 90% of the vents turning it into a oven.
