bird_brain I love your work. It's always researched, documented, and has well thought out interesting missions. I can't wait for this one too. Will this run in PF stand alone installation or does it need FB & PF merged?

I am doing it in 3.04m, and I may have a few objects or artillery that are not in PF, but once it is done, I am planning on doing an install of PF and converting it to work in the stand alone version as well. Happy

It would be a shame to have a Guadalcanal campaign & not let PF people fly it! Angry Blue Guy

Very soon I should think. The missions are all done unless I add one more finale/evacuation type thing. 25 total. I have been double checking those and tweeking here and there. I am editing the briefs and finishing those now as well. Skins are all sorted and all that is left is the intro/epilogue tracks.

Sorry I haven't been doing well by you playtesting. I was a bit sick, in the hospital for a day, and then pretty out of it for most of May. I'm just over it now

I hope I didn't screw up your campaign too much by dropping out of sight.

I got your e-mail, and I was actually about to send a reply, but this is just as good.
Don't bother with the previous file, as everything after mission #6 is different now anyway. I will drop you a link to DL a new Beta for testing if you are ready for it. Missions are done, briefs are still open for modification after # 17 or so. Skins are completely different from what you had before.

Don't worry about messing up the program, I may have finished sooner if I had more pressure, but I was pretty busy at work myself.

I will send you a PM with a little more info.

Simon is playing hookey ..... I saw he did make 1 post about a week ago so he is lurking about. whisper I think real life has gotten in the way for the last month or 2. *Testing is done.

*Reworked some ground attack missions due to interference from 4.01 patch.

*Added more ground action and fighter 1 construction with objects from 4.01 patch.





*Currently working on Intro, cut scene & Epilogue tracks.
It is basically done.

I have been fine tuning while waiting for the normal patch hysteria to wear off. It has taken about 3 months to build, I figure another day or 2 can't hurt to make sure it all works with the new patch. It has been my experience that fighters will no longer attack ground objects with machine guns only with 4.01. If armed with cannons, they will still attack. Is that a bug or a "feature"?

Oh ... I almost forgot to mention that Extreme_one has entrusted me with some secret information as his "parting gift" and I have to decide whether or not to try and incorporate it into this campaign or wait for another project that is also nearing completion. whisper Wink2

what kinda interference you talking about? I havent been able to get the patch yet due to being stuck with dail up in this backwater. Im about 1/3 done with redoing my redo of the origional il2 VVS fighter cmpn, and Im kinda wondering what factors i need to consider, or if I need to wait till I can use the phone for 20 hrs to dnload the thing Angry

I also hate that extreme one doesnt appear to be around any more, as i just recently got around to flying his well made projects-BOB is pretty cool. Cool

I'm sure that it has always been the case that AI will only attack vehicles/objects/tanks etc. IF it has weapons with the capability to destroy them...
I have never seen AI straffe ships... only attacking with bombs or rockets
although rockets will not destroy the larger ships.. at once...I think damage to them is added up incrementally
this doesn't apply to tanks unfortunately... so unless you have cannon like those on the il2... you can hit them all day without result

You are most likely right, however, the F4F-4s attacked the enemy AA with machine guns before the 4.01 patch and now the waypoint skips ahead as soon as they near the ground attack waypoint. The funny thing is that the mission I am referring to worked fine before and another one that I have not messed around with still works. Look @ mission #4 and you will see that the F4F4s attack the enemy AA. in mission #11, they just fly right by. I am still trying to figure out what the difference is. It may have to do with being in the lead flight like it mentions in the manual. I am going to try it that way, but I will simply change the mission goals if that does not work. Roll Eyes

Does anyone have a copy of Bird Brain's Guadalcanal campaign I could snag? The link for it is no longer in service. Actually all I'm looking for is a well researched and complete Henderson Field layout so if anyone knows of one available please let me know.
