Bird, You will find that "Green Hell" is a detailed account of the, air land and water battles fought for Guadalcanal. All three phases ,as I found out were interdependant.

??? must be a typo SeaNorris, do you mean the mission template or the skin by Sooty? I sent Soots an e-mail trying to locate the skin, but I didn't have any luck. You don't have any good generic Marine F4F-4 skins do you?

No, But I cane make you one But i meant this Yes, If you want I will make you one?

I would be happy to take look at whatever you have SeaNorris, but I may wind up making my own anyway. That is what I usually do just to have the complete package. I happened on a shark-mouth P400 skin by VPMedia that is better than I can do so I am already using that one. I was originally planning on using all default skins to keep the DL size small, but that never seems to work out in the end! And yes, I will send you guys that are interested a link for a .mis file to use as a Cactus template.

I can send you the Wildcat skins by Sooty, if you want to, bird_brain. I just realised he removed them from the d/l page. ................................................................................................ Well he has revised them and they are available now in his site. Check out: http://members.cox.net/cx570578a/_htmdir/_HomePg.html

I got his Navy F4F skins and they are indeed impressive. He has a spot up for the Marine VMF121 skin which should work fine. Maybe I inspired him to revise them? When the Navy boys fly in Mid-September, I will need the darker Navy scheme for their flights anyway, so I will probably have both. Thanks for the tip. SeaNorris... nice screenies, but my goal was to get rid of the white nose band. It seems to be from VMF212 as far as I can tell. You might want to lighten up the panel shading a tad as well, The term I have read for the Cactus planes more than once is they looked "Bleached" from the sun, mud & dust.

Looks like you have gotten in the Marine Corps spirit SeaNorris. I have done a little more work on Fighter 1..."The Cow Pasture" Here is a shot of the ramp; and here is a picture I found from early '43 I would wager they had the fighters a little more dispersed during September & October '42 but it is a good reference none the less. I am fairly sure I got the locations right if you notice the mountain in the background

I finished my single mission 'Guadalcanal Night patrol' and it is up at Airwarfare... just playing around in the FMB after reading in 'Japanese destroyer captain' about the destroyer night action.... I added a flight of two SBD's so the player can get a look and even drop a bomb if he wants.... you're welcome to use it, or abuse it if you want............. So why don't you do a Cactus SBD Campaign? I will help you put it together if you write the missions.

Bird_Brain: Get some good R&R in New Zealand and report back to base when you're feeling fit. I would never want to push the squadron past the breaking point. (Just wetting myself looking over your screenshots! )

Our flight surgeon just reported the entire squadron unfit for continued flight duty, but the CO, sweetheart that he is, told him; "Them continuing to fly is better than getting a Japanese bayonette up their a$$!"

I have a little update for those who care. I have been working on Wildcat skins and I have gotten the skin from Soots. I will be using his Navy skin for when the VF guys fly in but I am doing my own for the Marines since it needs to start out brand new, get a little worn and then almost worn out. Then when new planes are brought in, they will look a little better as well. It will take 3 different F4Fskins. It is a combination of VPMedia's F4F and my own template I have put together. I redid the splash screen and you can see the mildly weathered version here; I have finished revising the briefs and missions through #14 which takes it to mid September. VF5 is just about to arrive with 24 Navy fighters to help out VMF 223 & 224 who only have about 18 Wildcats left to stem the tide of Japanese bombing raids.

Thanks for the update, BB. I'm looking forward to this one as much as I did Chris Blair's WTCF.
