I've set up a dedicated server and am starting to build historical ETO missions for it but find myself quite limited regarding the knowledge of WW2 historical aircraft (especially fighter aircraft) match-up on both side.

Since there are so many talented and experienced mission builders here. I would like to ask where can I get the time frame of mainstream WW2 aircrafts (include their variants) entering and leaving battles.

If it's not possible. Can any of you provide classic historical air war scenarios and their aircraft match-ups throughout the war? Information on other theatres is also welcomed.

You may want to check that site out generally as well. Basically the pdt.xls file is a spreadsheet (Excel format) that details the types and numbers used at each of the major battles as represented by IL-2. It matches with the names of the aircraft in IL-2 pretty much exactly so there isn't a lot of guesswork involved.

There are so many historic and classic match ups that its hard to list all of them but that spreadsheet should give you a good list.
