BTW, I thought I should post something about placing AI seaplanes and floatplanes. It used to be (it's in here someplace) that you could place them with zero fuel and they would sit nicely on the water---acting like static planes, only they'd be "real" planes instead of the crappy static variety. Makes for fun strafing missions.

This no longer works well, sadly. Since either 4.04m or 4.05m, the planes now spin around in a circle on the water. They stay around, they just spin in circles.

Did you select "All Engines"? Profile (Just kidding). Yeah, what a shame. Chuck Older found a way to place static seaplanes with custom skins on but the bloody "Search" engine can't seem to find the post. check his thread on When Tigers Could Fly ver. 2.0.

I can't get:

1. My cursor to disappear while flying 4.04.
2. My mouse to move my around very much while in a larger plane (e.g., the A-20 or B-25).

How do you get the smoke, lights, or fire in stationary objects to gain height ? such as chimny stacks, ship stacks, or steet lights etc. The answer would please me very much, cheers ! a great fan Jon

Welcome to the Forums Jon.
Only the smokes, fires and lights can be raised.
Select the object with the mouse. Press "F4" and then hold down the left mouse button. While holding both buttons move the mouse. Moving it away from you will raise the object. Moving the mouse toward you will lower the object. Release "F4" and continue holding down the left mouse button to move the object in the horizontal plane. If you are setting more than one smoke/light/fire at the same height, press "Insert" or keypad "Enter" (not the keyboard Enter) key and another objct will appear at the same height.

Make sure to hold down the "F4" key first before trying to alter the height or it won't work right.

Sadly you can't. Sad We're stuck with the supplied defaults. This may be fixed in SoW/BoB but not in this sim.

I used Artillery (AAA) and not stationary anything, but the AAA artillery still won't shoot back. Am i missing something else?
My planes are blue and artillery is red.

Some Artillery objects wont shoot if another object is used. For instance most field howitzers won't fire from inside bunkers or even if placed on open platforms. The .50 cal and Maxim AAA mg's won't fire if you don't put the open end of the circular sandbags the same as the barrel or if you put them behind the straight sandbags.

That's probably it. I have AAA, Howitzer, AAA, howitzer, right next to each other and all behind some type of wall.

Is there way to rotate the howitzers or AAA guns so they face toward an opened end?

Will they then shoot and then rotate to track a target?

Any turreted gun rotates and tracks targets it can see.
Carriage guns (howitzers) do not track. They only shoot at what they can see in front of them, i.e. a clear line of sight. They also have a very narrow field of vision.

You can rotate any object by selecting it, then pressing 1,3,4,6,7, or 9 on the keypad. (make sure NumLock is enabled). By default 1 & 3 rotate the object 30 degrees, 4 & 6 rotate15 degrees and 7 & 9 rotate 5 degrees. If these are not suitable they can be changed in the "conf.ini" file. The entries are under "[HotKey builder]". (Always save your current conf.ini file first or at least write down the defaults). I have changed my 7 & 9 to 3 degrees as some hard coded objects such as railroads and roads are not aligned to default angles.
To get a "bird's eye view" you can press "Enter" and get a 3D or "freeview" while rotating or moving objects. Use the left mouse button to move in or out from the selected object. Move the mouse to pan.

ok I'd like to set an Airfield for single player or online play where the Player can choose which plane to fly, I set the Homebase as an airfield assign it to red (or blue) but when I start the mission I am unable to select the start base or select a plane to fly from that base. Help! please

Let's go over a few things first. You did place the mission in a 'Dogfight' folder, right? If you placed it in a 'Single Player' or 'Coop' folder it won't work, it will just be essentially a template.
You weren't testing from inside the FMB right? Again it doesn't work except from the 'Dogfight' folder.
Once you set a 'Homebase' the game default is all flyable aircraft.

I am a total newbee here and a cant make my spitfire Vb carry bombs in my mission builder, even though it clearly states in the aircraft guide that the Vseries could carry 500lbs of bombs. In weapon loadout it seems I can only choose between default or none, where default has no bombs.

If it isn't listed in the loadout menu it isn't available.
