A number of the default airforces in the game were allied at one point in the war and fighting at another point.
Is there any way (aside from the obvious one of using custom skins) to override the default allocation of nationalities to axis and allies ? For example if I wanted to write a mission or campaign involving the 1939 conflict between Hungary and Slovakia (who are both currently "axis") or for that matter Germany and Italy late war how can you do it ? _________________________________ Some random "stuff" : WTE (Australasian IL2 Squadron): http://www.wte-anga.com/ New Gladiator/J8A layers: http://tiny.cc/J8A_engine and http://tiny.cc/J8Apits Early and pre-war Czech/Slovak skins: http://tiny.cc/J8ASlovakia and http://tiny.cc/CLH PZL.p11c as Aero A102 : http://tiny.cc/A102 3rd Sqdn RAF 37/38: http://tiny.cc/3RAF1937 and http://tinyurl.com/3RAF1938 N5519 Charity 1939: http://tinyurl.com/n5519 |

Something I've often thought about creating missions for too. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of any way around the problem either, apart from the custom skin option you mention while assigning the former axis nation to RAF/USAAF/VVS. As these airforces were often equipped with German types some sort of distinctive skin would be essential for id anyway, unless icons are used. I guess the problem is you couldn't put a campaign for the Italian Cobelligerent Air Force, for example, in the Italy folder

Sadly, the only way to do it would be custom skins. Since squadrons are hard coded as red or blue, there wouldn't be a way to change it. Unless there is a way to add new squadrons. ------------------------------ Flying online as "johnnybassman" "Audentes fortuna juvat" Studio album coming soon! http://www.myspace.com/friendorfoe |

In a case you have blue vs blue opponents you should keep the player's side as real one and bluff the other side out with skins.
It could be however difficult to create stationary planes on the airfields because their national insignia cannot be modified anyhow. Solution is that you take the 'closest resemblance' or use the (pretty roughly modelled) aircraft featured in the objects list. Enemy radio chatter, if one listens to that, can be another problem. Maybe Slovakian sounds a bit Russian and Dutch a little like German. ------- Qualitas potentia nostra |

In my Redstar/Whitestar 1947 I'm completing (I'm about to make a large post on here wiht lots of screens), I made the soviets Romanian, specified markings off, and used many custom skins, some of which were made for me on request.
For static planes, im currently using the VPmedia skinmod that allows skins on static planes. The cmpn is of course playable on 408m, but it looks alot better. Before I discovered the world of the incredible mods, I used Italian nationality on the static planes, as the insignia wasn't visible from any distance. The mods are the best way to do for what you wanna do though. I can't believe the improvements such has made. When you see the screens I post, you'll see what I mean. ------------------------------ Sleep tight tonight, your Air Force is......awake! |

There is a 'More Nations and Squadrons' mod at AAA which gives all this....
No insignia or markings though...but things such as vichy French as Blue etc. |

Easy enough to move speech sound files around...put Russian actor files in the Hungary folder, etc. |
