Hi all,
Need some help with bombing a runway.
I have setup a coop mission, but even though the final waypoint and aircraft is set to Gattack. The aircraft fly to the waypoint but dont release release their bombs!
I am using 2 JU87's equiped with 1000lb bombs with alt over 2000.
Do i need to use the set target option?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Using the "Set Target" crosshairs is one way to force the AI to attack a ground target, along with using the "Destroy Ground" objective markers.
Follow this link to read Nutcase's excellent tutorial for attacking ground targets.
Everything you need to know is explained and illustrated there Thumbs Up

I know this is a very old thread, but I'm looking to use AI for a runway bombing.
From searching these forums I get the impression it's basically not possible to assign a runway as a target to AI bombers, is that right?

The link above in Achilles post is dead, would anyone have this page mirrored somewhere else?

Is there an invisible object you could place on a runway that wont effect take offs/landings but could be assigned as a target for AI?

Does the current version of PF (stand alone)still have the same problem of making runway bombings cosmetic and not actually effect the runways usage?

Thanks for any info.

If I remember correctly, runway damage lasts less than a minute, so so it's pretty much useless, except for dramatic affect.

For the tutorial, try this link: http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/index.php

Thanks Aviar,
Speaking of dramitic effect, I looked at one of the tutorials on that link about setting up V-1 rockets, and when I went to look in the FMB I don't seem to have the Rocket catagory to select.
Do you know of a reason for that? Stand alone PF 4.04??
Did I mis-patch something?

After looking at all the patches for PF (stand-alone) I beleive there are no rockets available.

Another bombing question though.....

I've seen threads that suggest using a Fuel Truck static object as a helper to produce bigger explosions when hitting closed hangers/factorys - But in PF (stand-alone) I can't find a single fuel truck, neither in vehicles or objects?
Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something or is there simply no fuel trucks in PF???

In 4.08m:

There is a BLUE moving vehicle fuel truck. Also, in the Stationary Objects category, there is one RED and one BLUE fuel truck. These are the one you want to use.

For bigger explosions, try 'Train Car 1' (ammo car; bigger delayed explosions) or 'Train Car 8' (fuel tanker; very big immediate explosion). These are also in the Stationary Objects category.

PS-If you are interested in IL-2, you really need to get the 1946 DVD. It has EVERYTHING and is less than $20.00.

You could use a downed Japanese or US Pilot on or near the runway as a target (use the ones without the rubber rafts). They are very difficult to see by the player (the AI sees them just fine), so you can "hide" them on or near the runway. Look for them in the Stationary Ships menu.

Thanks once again Aviar.
Unfortunately, Stand-Alone PF only evolved to 4.04 from what I can understand from this page.

From the stationary objects list the train cars do work well, however I can't see red or blue trucks Frown
The only truck that COULD be a fuel truck is the "Studebecker Truck" or "Diamond T US" which are green with a covered rear end.
Thats all I have to choose from, the rest are AAA, tanks etc.

Do your red and blue trucks have names?
