Hey B-50, is this another business trip, or one of THOSE "business" trips? I always kinda envisioned you working below decks on your cmpn like Bill Holden trying to write that letter in "The Bridges at Toko Ri". SLAM! Whooosh! Wham!
Heh heh. We do what we can. I was making some real progress myself, got some great 1947 skins from Beebop and found some neat stuff, and my boss moves from his lot to the stix. Don't even have any power yet. I think I need a laptop.....as if that's gonna happen. I had to completely give up on my VVS fighters pt2 cmpn mos ago due to this kinda of stuff, but I refuse to be stopped now, kinda like Mariskal. Keep at it gents......this is what makes offline flying worthwhile in this sim. (but Im making a coop version to). ------------------------------ Sleep tight tonight, your Air Force is......awake! Yes, it is one of "those" business trips. i am two missions away from completion, yet I am not ableto set aside the time under the current conditions to complete the campaign.
15 hour work days. Jets are not cooperating. not much time to finish up. Maybe in a month I will be able to submit the finished files to M4t. B50 |

Yeah, I figured. Everybody gets alot of flight time these days, so 15 hr days sounds about right. The AF is putting so much time on their F-16s that they expanded and sped up the upgrade program on the airframes. At least you won't be bored.
It usually takes me a week of work (averaging 4 hrs a day) to finish a single misn. Kinda hard to do without power at my new work location, and I'm so exhausted by the time I get home I don't get to work more than an hr at most on them. ------------------------------ Sleep tight tonight, your Air Force is......awake! At least I will not be bored.
Keep it up Mariskal!! I for one would be happy to give this campaign a whirl (in three weeks of course) if it is finished. Of course, the new FAA Hellcat skinpack that just came out could add an avenue for a sequel. Hellcats over Norway. The Hellcat and 109G6 are a pretty fair match all the way up to 7500m. It would yield great combat and also be a great addition to the new Norway map. I know that you are busy with Hurris. Just planting a seed. Enforcer, Keep up on the jet campaign. I used borstl_71's recent F-80 and MiG-9 skinpacks and went for a romp over the Yalu at 10000m. It was a blast. The fact that both aircraft are pre-cursors to the actual types had no effect on how fun the combat was. The armament for both types is the same as their respective decendents. Actually, I work on the flight deck, so I couldn't exactly break out the laptop if I had one. Here's one of me last year near Hawaii. My back to the camera. B50 |

Oh, men, you have quite a job!
Thanks for the encouregment. It is not that I'm running out of steam, it is just a break from it to concentrate in other things and while in the break I send it to the beta team. I like the hellcat idea. Actually, I've been thinking of doing a very large (50 missions or so) campaing spanning from 1939 to 1945 Fleet Air Arm, flying from Sea Gladiators, all the way to the Hellcat and guess what??? Most of the research and outline is already done. Even a good dozen of missions are ready. That project is a large one, so don't even dream of seeing it out anytime soon. I do not even know when I'll be releasing that one of if I might just cut it short and break it into several short campaigns. I'll see. ###################### My Campaigns can be downloaded at Mission4Today.com http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=368 Lake Lesjaskog - Gladiators over Norway / Battle for Ceylon / RAF 46 Sqn Norway RAF Hurricanes over Russia / Corsarios Catrachos / Hurricanes Over Norway |

50 misns?!?! Holy ****.....you'll be doing it from a nursing home and flying it on a 3d hologram. If I can just get the bloody power turned on at the new lot, I can go back to spending 4 to 6 hrs a day working on misns. I sure got alot done. Somebody on here should win a huge lottery and just pay some of us to do this full time.
And B50...now yer just showin off.....what a cool job. I bet that gear gets hot in certain places....and camo on a flight deck is just cool. BTW, what the F are you guys doing there? Some kinda mirror mime thing? Never seen that in a movie before. ------------------------------ Sleep tight tonight, your Air Force is......awake! Photo by Enforcer: North American F-86D |

looks like the Hornet is just ready to launch.
I dont know exactly what they are signalling there, but i do know (IIRC) that the launch officer (in lack of a better word as im not that familiar with navy lingo) gets down to that stance in the picture and points is finger onto the deck (signal to the catapult operator to fire the catapult).. but i think that he's standing a few feet forward, or atleast abeam of the aircraft, and not behind it. (probably doesn't really matter to the pilot, since after he's saluted, he's going to go wether he likes it or not.... i think!! lol ) |

Yeah Ive seen the cat guys do the touch the deck and point forward thing, but Ive not seen this. Kinda reminds me of the Paddles guy (LSO) that used to manually direct planes in before the mirror/light system.

I just wanted you guys to know that I'm starting to get feedback from the beta test team. I got the comments on the first 5 missions and that is about 1/3 of the total.
Still planning to release in late August, but you just never know... ###################### My Campaigns can be downloaded at Mission4Today.com http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=368 Lake Lesjaskog - Gladiators over Norway / Battle for Ceylon / RAF 46 Sqn Norway RAF Hurricanes over Russia / Corsarios Catrachos / Hurricanes Over Norway |

Hi All,
Sorry for the lack of updates. The project is NOT dead. Trust me, it will be released. Beta testers are busy with real life and other things. I got feedback for about half of the campaign, but I have not been able to fold it into the missions yet. I'm waiting for all of the missions, to get them all done at once. Also, I am busy with real life. I got married a few months ago. Given that I'm living in the US with my wife, but all my family lives in Argentina, we are having two wedding receptions. One in the US (done a few weeks ago) and the other one in Argentina in less than a month. Considering wedding things, plus work, I'm thinking on a mid-december release, but not sooner than that. That way you all will have something to fly during the Christmas break!! ###################### My Campaigns can be downloaded at Mission4Today.com http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=368 Lake Lesjaskog - Gladiators over Norway / Battle for Ceylon / RAF 46 Sqn Norway RAF Hurricanes over Russia / Corsarios Catrachos / Hurricanes Over Norway |

Thanks mate for the quick reply, looking forward to it.
Congratulations on your marriage, 2 wedding receptions, serious hangover. |

Thanks for the update mariskal.
My JG27 campaign was split into two parts because length of development time was a problem for me too. I was able to make an upload where the part 2 files and config.ini were loaded into the existing part 1 campaign, and the transition was seamless. All that the down loader has to do is: 1. place the missions in the correct directory. 2. copy over the original campaign's config.ini and info.properties. 3. load the new track files into the campaign's video folder. 4. And add all the new relevant skins. Combined, JG27 is 60 missions. I like Campaigns that are put together this way so that I can progress from enlisted pilot to group commander and earn all of the awards. I am flying my JG27 now, and I have 76kills, from Obfwl to Obst. And I just got the Oak leaves. A 60 mission Campaign in Norway featuring the Glad, Hurri and Hellcat would be a blast. Congratulations on the Marriage As to the picture I threw in.... The F/A-18E is ready to launch. It is at full combat power(Afterburner(Reheat)). It is configured as a tanker (4 480 gallon tanks, and a refueling store), and so will leave the deck at 66,000 pounds take off weght. After a flight deck director (yellow shirt, usually enlisted) lines up the aircraft on the catapult, and the holdback bar is attached by a green shirted member of the catapult crew, the aircraft is taxied foreward until the holdback bar engages the buffer hooks, and the aircraft's launch bar drops into the throat of the shuttle. Then when the deck is clear, the aircraft is put in tension by direction of the catapult topside safety petty officer (green shirt) who is positioned by the aircraft's nosewheels. These signals are passed to the pilot by the yellow shirt. when the aircraft is in tension (full power) and the TSPO has verified proper holdback and launch bar engagement he then clears the catapult, and control of the aircraft is passed from the yellow shirt FDD to the Catapult Officer(yellow shirt, khaki pants, Green cranial with 3 orange stripes). Throughout the hookup process, a pair of squadron final checkers in white shirts with a checker board pattern (one for each side of the aircraft), have made a "final check" of the mechanical condition of the aircraft. This is where the picture comes in. In the 20 seconds since the aircraft has been spotted for cat line up, I have gone from nose to tail verifying that all doors are closed, wings spread and locked, and that there are no major fluid leaks. We (final checkers) must be down on one knee before the arcraft can be placed in tension. When the aircraft is in tension, the final checkers observe proper launch bar engagement, proper control surface movement, and in this case, that both engines have engaged afterburner (the nozzle position changes). When we have observed all of these things, then we give thumbs up(picture). At that time, the Catapult officer checks for a clear deck, that the center deck operater(steam) is thumbs up, that the deck edge operator(the one who presses the "fire" button) is ready, and finally the pilot, who if he is ready, will salute(day) or turn on his anti collision lights(night). Only then will the Catapult officer give permission to launch the aircraft. Sorry for the long off topic post. B50 |

Just to make things clear, the "Hurricanes over Norway" is a 15/16 missions campaign featuring only the Hurricane. I do have in the backburner a much longer campaign for the Royal Navy, from Norway to the Pacific, including the Atlantic and the Med, but who knows when I'll get that one done... ###################### My Campaigns can be downloaded at Mission4Today.com http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=368 Lake Lesjaskog - Gladiators over Norway / Battle for Ceylon / RAF 46 Sqn Norway RAF Hurricanes over Russia / Corsarios Catrachos / Hurricanes Over Norway |

Wow, cool B-50. I wasn't familiar with that. I guess those launches of Crusaders back in the sixtes with the wings folded was kinda embarassing....but at least they were able to land.
I understand how a cmpn takes so long. My current east west 47 cmpn is progressing, but it's slow. If you make a longer campn, you could always pick it up after this one ends. ------------------------------ Sleep tight tonight, your Air Force is......awake! Photo by Enforcer: North American F-86D |

Mariskal,
Sorry, I misread your post. Both campaigns would be a blast. A wider Atlantic campaign would be good for the community for sure. B50 |

Mariskal,
Just wondering if you have any updates on this campaign mate. regards slipper |

Hi Slipper,
Thanks for your interest. I got really busy with real life and I wanted to spend some time doing other hobbies as well. I think I need to give the campaign the final push and getting out. I got all the feedback from the beta tester so I just need to implement that and release it. But, as I said I'm really busy these days in real life. I don't want to say when I'll release this, because I don't know, but it will be released. ###################### My Campaigns can be downloaded at Mission4Today.com http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=368 Lake Lesjaskog - Gladiators over Norway / Battle for Ceylon / RAF 46 Sqn Norway RAF Hurricanes over Russia / Corsarios Catrachos / Hurricanes Over Norway |

Again (months later
Sorry for the long off topic post. I am involved again in a long term WIP. I am just posting to perhaps offer that final bit of motivation that is required to release such a product. Hurri's over Norway is good Campaign in an area that is not well covered in Il246. Norway is an awesome map that I for one would love to fly a Campaign in. Ironically enough I'm going on another business trip, but I will be looking foreward to a new Hurri Campaign upon my return. Good luck, B50 |
