I am making a mission where landing on a stationary carrier is a neccessary step for getting a "Mission Complete" in the end, but when I land on the staionary carrier to test it I don't get a "Primary Target Complete" message. For some reason it won't work on a stationary carrier. I place the Target over the staionary carrier, set it as recon, check the landing box, and place it over the carrier, but no Primary Target Complete message when I land on it and stop.

For a moving carrier, it will only work if you place the recon icon by putting your mouse cursor right over one of the ship icons and press ctrl + left mouse button to place the icon. Not sure if it works for a stationary carrier, maybe make the carrier move at its lowest possible speed. Also I think for landings carriers were generally moving quickly to make it easier to land on them without stalling out.

I'm making a difficult challenge type mission sort of like For Good Pilots if you know that one. In mine, part of the task is to land on a series of stationary carriers. I'll try putting that the mouse cursor right over the ship like you said to see if that works. But this is wierd, I never had any problem before getting a primary target complete message of a carrier. I must be doing somethin obviously wrong.

Like I said, for moving carriers the icon has to be connected to the ship's icon...and there's no way to connect it other than by creating it with your mouse cursor directly over the ship's icon. This drove me completely nuts when I was making a mission where I wanted a hidden target reward for landing--I knew I'd seen "hidden target completed" when I'd landed on carriers in missions others had made--and nobody here knew what to do, then I figured it out on my own by mistake.

But I haven't tried it with a stationary carrier so I think you'll just have to see if it works or not.

I couldn't get the recon target to attach to the stationary carriers.
As soon as I changed to moving carriers it attached just fine using your method.

This sim will drive you nuts trying to figure out all its idiosyncracies. Googly

When it comes to mission building the only thing that I have had more frustrations with than getting Targets to work properly is getting the damn AI to work properly.
