I have just released my latest campaign, "A Raid Too Far". This one is 20 missions long and will let you fly various US Navy aircraft types in early 1944.

Details here: http://www.mission4today.com/i...file=details&id=3702

Just downloaded it, I'd like to check out some US pacific missions.

That youtube vid you did is cool.

Maybe make a topic about this on the general discussion board, this board is pretty slow.

Yeah, this board IS slow! I'll wait a bit for some user feedback, then I'll probably post the 1.1 version on the main board. (This makes you essentialy a beta tester! Wink )

The teaser video is superb! Gotta try this out.

Unfortunately the amount of work gone into these campaigns is disproportionate to the very few comments and reviews

I'll try and play a few missions tonight and give my thoughts, us campaign builders have to help one another out. Smile

Hmm well so far so good, though I'm a bit wobbly at the missions since I've never flown USN aircraft much. Man, the Wildcat is sure underpowered, but it gives you good training to fly the Hellcat better.

I just played through several missions. Some of them are fun, though I skipped through the Dauntless and recon missions. I like the videos, they help tell the story, like the one of the Dauntless landing on the little island. How did you get the plane to do that?

Only suggestion I can think of is that you should tell what skin to choose in the briefing.

I think you should land the plane on the island yourself? Are you sure you set the rank to "Captain" when starting the campaign?

About the user-skins: yeah, I'll put those in the briefings...

Looks interesting...but it often takes time to generate some momentum. I've taken a break in mission building and started playing some campaigns...I'm about halfway through one right now so once I get through that I want to have a look at this one. Looks pretty good!

No, I meant how did you get the Dauntless in the video to do that. I'm guessing you gave it zero fuel and a landing waypoint on the island?

Were you controlling the plane while using that external view? Or is there some way to edit the view of the camera? I just recently started tinkering around with campaign videos so I don't know much about what you can and can't do.

The easy way to do it is fly your scenario while recording an NTRK file. Then you go into the tracks area and play back the recorded NTRK file and record another NTRK file from it but this time you record your custom camera views (I make liberal use of the pause button while doing this). Voila.

That's the trick. Basically , the replay viewer is a very powerful editing tool...

Ah ha! I figured you could do this, but "recording from a recording" isn't very intuitive. Thanks. When I made mine I just had the AI do stuff which sometimes worked out well but they do weird maneuvers like waggling their wings a lot.

Well just finished this up earlier.

It was some good experience for me with the carrier defense missions, those were pretty intense. In that mission towards the end where a bunch of Vals are inbound, I could not figure it out, kept getting shot down by the Zeros, finally I just buzzed a couple Vals then when all the Zeros got on my tail I dived to the deck and returned to my carrier where the Zeros were all shot down until I could pick some of them off. Meanwhile the other US planes finished up all the Vals. Pretty fun.

I liked how the campaign gave you the feeling that you were just one of a few fighters defending a small escort carrier--you rarely had wingmen and had to be really careful about picking fights.

However I couldn't figure out the mission where you attack Wake Island...I tried ordering my other flights to attack but they just dropped their bombs over water and shot a couple planes on the ground then ran back to the carrier. I think it would have worked better if you didn't give the player control over the AI fighter-bombers so they just did their attack run automatically.

Yeah that Wake mission needs some tweaking. The SBD's will attack though, but as soon as the FM-2's spot a bandit, they will drop bombs and attack the fighters... Perhaps I'll leave out the bombs and have them strafe the island.
