Is there any place I can find a complete list of supercharger positions and mixture adjustments for all relevent planes?
The 1946 DVD does not have all the information. Aviar This message has been edited. I wonder if this is what you are looking for:
IL-2 Functions This will tell you the different functions that each plane has, for instance if it has a supercharger, or mirrors, or what have you. Also: Plane info I think this might be what you are looking for, but check both out to be sure. I hope that helps. ------------------------------ Flying online as "johnnybassman" "Audentes fortuna juvat" Studio album coming soon! http://www.myspace.com/friendorfoe |

No, that's not what I was looking for. I guess I wasn't clear enough.
I was looking for a chart that has the altitude(s) at which the supercharger position needs to be switched in order to achieve best engine performance. Also, I'm looking for the same information concerning fuel mixtures. The Aircraft Guide on the DVD has this information, but not for every plane that has manual control of these features. For instance, the American SBD has manual supercharger and fuel mixture controls, but the altitudes are not listed. On the other hand, the F4F has it's supercharger altitudes listed, but no mixture altitudes. So, I'm looking for a complete list, if there is one. I've never seen a complete list. The only thing I've every seen is what's on the aircraft guide on the 1946 DVD, which you have obviously seen. I think there was a pdf file that was included with the Forgotten Battles CD that might have that info, but I'm not so sure, and in any case it wouldn't have the current plane set. I've heard that some people don't even bother with hard numbers, they just go by how the engine sounds or what the gauges read. Maybe that's why there isn't a complete list. Perhaps with a little work, with yourself and other folks on the board, we might be able to come up with something. Download the IL-2 functions excel file, make some new columns, and put in what you have, then ask around from there. For the F4F, and other planes that have only two mixture options, 120% is used for take-off and landing, 100% for everything else. Not sure if that was in the reference guide. I think the supercharger stages are listed for a few planes, but I know one that isn't: the Tempest. Switch to stage 2 above 10,000 feet. That's all I can think of. Sorry I couldn't be more help. ------------------------------ Flying online as "johnnybassman" "Audentes fortuna juvat" Studio album coming soon! http://www.myspace.com/friendorfoe |

I found the pdf files from the Forgotten Battles CD on my computer, and put them on M4T. It has a lot of info you were looking for, so it's a set in the right direction.

You can dL checklists and manuals for some aircraft at the Dauntless Aviation site.

For SC I look at the graphs in IL2C to see where the game models a change in performance.
for mixture I assume mixture % needs to match the relative density at a given alt (ie air density at x m / sea-level air density). whether that is exactly how the game models things, I'm not sure, but it seems to work well enough on planes with manual mixture. sea-level - 100% 1000 m - 90% 2200 m - 80% 3500 m - 70% 5000 m - 60% 6500 m - 50% 8500 m - 40% This message has been edited. Over the years the patches have changed aircraft performance alot so old data is now not relevant, SC & Mix settings are not hard and fast across the board, you have to fly each aircraft and find out what the settings are and on what maps (possibly).
I know of no available data from 1c that is current with IL2 1946. Its a case of test test and test again |

Awesome info in the responses to this post.
With the free checklist link, I vote this thread to be the next sticky. Great stuff. I used the performace info for some of the Russian planes. Also good stuff. B50 |

I have a document named :
IL2 FB+AEP+PF cocpit reference guide by neural dream It is dated August 1. 2005 It has collorpicetures of all cocpits and are like the one on the 1946 CD, but it has a lot of more comments in it, tips, armament when to use superchartger, fuelmixture etc etc. That is why I dont use the file in 1946 edition I dont now from where to download this file anymore. I have a printed version I use. Maybe some one else know where this document is ? |
