Well hopefully some of you guys have checked out my previous Air Pirates campaigns, and hopefully enjoyed them to some degree.

After taking a break from campaign making, I got the bug again recently and started putting together a bunch of new missions. This time the player will play as a pilot for various nations that are fighting against the Air Pirates. Basically it will be 5 different "mini-campaigns" of five missions each. The campaigns I have laid out currently are for Italy, the United Kingdom, the USSR, Finland, and Japan.

A few people really helped me out with my previous campaigns by providing me with some really spectacular skins. Metatron123 provided some great Spitfire, TB-3 and Zero skins. FriendlyFlyer made a great Tempest skin. UnknownStranger made some cool I-16 and LaGG-3 skins. Thanks again to all of them.

Basically I'm making this topic to let everyone know to keep an eye out for the campaign, but also to see if anyone would like to make any new Air Pirate skins for the campaign. It's not a huge deal but having some new ones would add some variety to the campaigns and would be much appreciated. I'd give it a try myself but I unfortunately don't have any skills at art design.

Basically the missions are done but I need to make some tweaks here and there, then write up the mission briefings and so on, and I'd like to make intro/outro videos for each campaign this time. I learned a lot of lessons from making the previous campaigns and hopefully this one will be more polished.

Also if anyone has any suggestions or ideas please let me know!

Great timing, i've got some Macchi skins in the making, inspired by the classic era of aviation, good for pirate hunting I think.

Other skins that would be good for the pirates are the Il-4 bomber, and some fighter that was used between say 1942 and 1943, any nationality. It's not a huge deal but again it would add a bit of variety especially for the fighters.

Naturally as soon as I posted this topic I started trying to make some more intense missions that provide a sense of finality where you go destroy a pirate base...big dogfighting furballs and explosions. Takes a while to get them set up so they work the way I want them to, so it might be a bit longer to get this done.

You're a good mission builder so I look forward to it.

If you like I can make you some stylized pirate hunting machines so that you dont have to use the defaults.

If you would like to that would be great, it would make add a nice level of detail.

Oh boy, this is going to be a lot of work, but it'll be fun. So far I have some Macchi 205s for you, three different skins.

I guess you can have the player's aircraft with a personalized skin and the rest default, saves time and implies that the player is the leader, the ace. Anyway that's up to you.

Why Iar 81 and not Macchi 200 or Fiat G 50 for Italy? I presume you don't like the armament?

Obviously don't feel pressured to make a skin for every single plane used, just a few would be great.

Yeah I really don't like the cruddy Breda guns on the MC 200 and 202. The IAR 81c's armament is like a Spitfire and it has a ton of ammo. I might make a simple mission for a 200 or 202 though just to provide a chance to fly them. But the 205 with the death ray cannons is just so great it's hard to pass it up!

Macchi 205 looks cool and is fast and deadly, but likes to stall a lot.

Oh and by the way is it USSR or Imperial Russia? Speaking of which you must check out the new nations and markings mod.

USSR, not Tsarist Russia.

Yeah that mod sounds cool, it would have been useful for my earlier campaigns where I wanted the Russians as blue team and the pirates as red team. But I'd rather make this campaign able to be played without mods though so as many people can play it as possible.


Anyway gonna work some more on this today. I might try and get a beta version out soon so people can try it out while I work more on the intro videos and polishing various stuff.

Hmm, pretty cool, I like the red ones. Are you going to use the fasces logo or the green-white-red roundel like in that first skin, or have the fasces marking applied by the game? Doesn't really matter to me, thanks again for putting in the hard work on this.

Also the Italian campaign is basically done, if anyone wants to try it I could email it or post it as a beta on Mission4Today, or at some other file sharing site.

You need the Italian folder pack though to get Italian medals and voices, you can get it at Mission4Today.

I guess I could leave it blank, it works fine with markings.

I'll give you a selection so you can choose, also perhaps the red one with the eagle art on it.

I think tonight I'll try and post the Italian campaign to some filesharing site so you can take a look at it and maybe get some feedback from anyone else who is interested.

1) Let me know how it looks, if you see any bugs, or have any suggestions that would be easy to implement. The readme file tells what to do but I will probably need to make it more detailed later on.

2) To get Italian voices and medals you'll need to download and install the Italian Campaign Folder mod thingy which is here:

Setting it up in your Il-2 files is a bit confusing but I tried to give a step-by-step description of what to do in the readme file. Let me know if you need help.

3) If you want this uploaded to a different file-sharing website, let me know and I'll do what I can. When the whole thing is done with all 5 campaigns, I'll upload it to Mission4Today.

Cool, I will give it a go tonight. I have pretty much completed the Macchis, so i'll package them and send them to you. Not essential as all Italian schemes look cool anyway!

I'm a bit confused as to how the Finns fit conceptually with the pirate theme? Unless we are talking vikings!

I had a couple missions in the first Air Pirates campaign where the pirates fight against the Finns. I wanted the Finns to get some revenge.

Plus I wanted the excuse to make some missions with the B-239 and Fw-190D.

Also guys if anyone has a better idea for a name for the campaign set, let me know, "Anti-Piracy" isn't really exciting and makes it sound like anti-virus software or something.

Individual names for each campaign would be good too...maybe "Mediterranean Mayhem" for the Italian one...well maybe not.
