Anyone know of any campaigns created for the latter part of the Pacific war featuring the 343 Kokutai?
IMO, with the George now flyable, it would be very interesting. |

Hi Catandra,
I have working on a campaign for 343rd Kokutai, based on the book Genda's Blade, I am about 80% complete, I hadhoped to get it cout by the end of the month, so as I can work on my Greek campaign, been working and looking after children i'm afraid, so I have to fit it around other stuff! Here are some pics of the last mission when VMF-113 had arrived at Omura in October 1945, and the Shiden-Kai were being evaluated by the Americans. yours stu(oose) |

Here are some more shots, All skins are by RONNCO, with some changes by me, not sure if he will let me include them, but i use them at home. It may just be his blank skins in the campaign. I will ask him nearer the time of release. Plus I hope he will have done a Green Zero and maybe a VF-85 Corsair by then.. Hint Hint Yours stu(oose) |

Hi,
Mission for Today I think, I have not post a campaign yet. I have been learning from the masters, such as Phil_K so I hope people will like it. It will only be about 20 missions, as I just don't have the time unfortunatly. one more... yours stu(oose) |

Yes, I thought that was really cool too. I'm curious to see the final mission in your campaign and how you work the occupation scenario into it.
Btw, IMO, 20 missions is plenty for a campaign. Given that each one needs to be ended successfully for a player to move on, 20 can be quite a lot. Off topic here but I was looking at your screenshots of the George with the drop tanks. Does PF model the flight chracteristics of planes that retain their drop tanks? In other words, do planes suffer a drag penalty unless they drop the tanks? |

Interesting markings on those Hellcats in your pics. I don't recall seeing that boxed pattern before. Do you know the history about it?
PS, thanks for the heads-up about Genda's Blade. That's on my Christmas List now. |

RONNCO new Hellcat skin you can dpownload it from http://www.flying-legends.net The marking is the 'G' symbol for USS Hornet used on VF-17(F6F), VBF-17(F6F) VB-17(SB2C) VT-17(TBM). On 19th March 45 343rd had its first encounter with US navy units and was heavily involved with VBF-17 who lost three pilots KIA and another three jumped and survived.

Very impressive looking campaign, stu!
Looks like you'll be one of the masters soon.... _________________________ It is bad enough that a grown man should spend the greater balance of his time playing a game on a computer. It is yet worse that he should spend the remainder of his time arguing about it on the internet. |

Hi All,
Here is a short story board for the fist combat mission when 343rd meet VBF-17 on 19th March 1945. The Shiden-Kai, dived on VBF-17,who tried to climb to meet them Lt Fred Prinz and his wingman Lt Roger Karr were the first hit on that pass, Lt Karr was KIA while Lt Fred Prinz only just made it back to the Hornet. yours stu(oose) |

Hey Stu,
Did that take place over the Japanese mainland, or out at sea? |
||||
|
Hi Catandra,
From what I understand the combat took place just off the coast, Most of the Missions will use the Japan map however they will not always be historically acurate due to the limitations of the map itself. yours stu(oose) |

Looks great! The N1K-2J is a real gem and its good to see a proper campaign for it.
Air combat took place all over Japan. Particularly in the early part of 1945 with attacks against the south kamikaze bases and then later on in June and July as operations wrapped up in Okinawa. Defense tended to fall to a mix of Army and Navy units...more typically the Army units but ultimately the goal at that point was to send as few aircraft into the air as possible. They were saving up as many planes for the invasion. |

Update
Work going well finished a few more missions, Okinawa interception missions done, few pic of combat that occoured on 12th April 45 when 343 Kokutai was involved in heavy combat with various USN Squdrons, including VF-17, VBF-17, VMF-123 and VF-82 as well as others. Its Geting there just want to make it as acurate as possible. Thanks once again to RONNCO who continues to pump out such superb skins. yours stu(oose) |
