Weird...

Did you perform any renaming of folders of some kind? Or move folders? Copy them?

Oh well, never mind... (I can't seem to stop... Googly)

Well it took a reformat but QMT is now working again. Thanks for your help FT. Must have been some corruption in my registry or game or wherever. Also solved a couple of other unrelated issues with the reformat so it wasn't all that bad.

I spoke too soon. After getting it to work, the next time I went back in to start it, I get the same old error screen.

Has to be some kind of bug alright.

Sad
The only thing I can thinks of now is try and copy or move your Sturmovik folder to the root of C:\, and name it 'Sturmovik', or a some other simple name, without any spaces in it.

Should that still not fix it, maybe also (re)name / label your C: partition, and give it a name without any spaces...

Long shots... Surprised

ok big guy. You will have to explain a bit more how to do those two suggestions. What is a root of C:\? And how do I rename C:? Just right click on the c drive and select rename?

BTW on my back up computer, once you set the path on QMT it stays set, unlike what happened on my primary computer.

Root of C:\ is just that: the top level folder of the drive.
So the path to IL2 would read 'C:\Sturmovik', as short as possible, as to try and exclude a folder name issue as the cause...

As for the label of C drive: Right click the C:\ drive, choose properties, then change/enter a label (like WINXP or something...) in the top field there...

But, like I said, long shots... because, as you state, on the other computer the longer path works fine... as it did on your main computer... once...

Hey BG, we could try somethin' else.

Like me trying to remotely control yer pc. Using MS's remote assistance.

I use it on a daily basis, not over the internet though, but on a corporate network.

Dunno if it'd help, dunno if we could make it work... we could try.

Im my experience it can be a real eye opener, but also very time consuming, time one'd better spend on "flying"... Angel Cool Surprised

You know, that's a coincidence. I was thinking the same thing about using remote assistance. I'll install it and we can give it a try.

Just to update this thread, FT poked around my computer via Remote Assistance but couldn't find anything to explain the problem.

This morning I found a link to an older version, 2.02 of QMT for il2 1946. http://files.filefront.com/QMT+V202zip/;11159576;/fileinfo.html

This version works fine so I will stick with it.

Hello Guys,

Wow, it's been awhile since I've visited the boards here. There is a newer version of QMT that I hope fixes the game path problem. If not I have my email address back up qmtsupport (-at-) dwvac (-dot-) com. Here's the link to a new version http://www.dwvac.com/Download/MissionTuner.zip.

Many, many thanks Shift E for this wonderful tool. I use it way more than any other tool out there (not counting FMB, and some times even more than FMB).

thanks again Shift E,

p.s. I have some request of your next version if you are interested.

good hunting to all,

I tried QMT, but could never get it to install properly, so I use Pacific Fighters Monkey Wrench (PFMW), which is fine for me. I see a lot of people seem to use QMT, but I don't see many references to PFMW. I hope they do roughly the same things.

I've almost finished populating all the airfields on one of the game's original 'Online' maps. The idea is that the 'mission' will be a source of ready-made airfields for mission builders with PFMW or QMT, which I hope/assume has similar cut-n-paste abilities.

As I'm sure you've noticed, all the grass airfields on the original east front maps come in one of several standard layouts. For each layout I've done one field with buildings/objects only and then copied that framework to the other field(s) with the same layout. I've then added parked ac, vehicles etc to make German and/or Soviet airfields. there's a selection or pre-war-built airfields with substantial buildings, wartime airfields with pre-fab' and wooden buildings and emergency strips with a few netted and dispersed aircraft.

Hope to get it on M4T soon.

edit: Ah wrong thread, I think. For QMT read QOT. Nuh uh

My first request is to have finer control over the flight numbering and their listing. It would be nice if the way the flights are arranged in the QMT plane list matched the way they showed up on the mission’s plane selection list, and to be able to control the plane order that shows up on the plane selection list by changing the flight number. As it is when you create or change to a new plane it assumes the lowest available flight number no matter where it might show up on the plane selection list. [As an example of what I want to be able to do, lets say there are 8 flights (4 planes each) of 8 different types of aircraft, 4 axis and 4 allie; and I want to change the order that the allie planes show up on the selection list from C A D B to A B C D. As it is there is a work around, but it takes time.]

My second request is to have a filter that gives you control over which planes are listed for plane selection on the QMT. This filter would be similar to that on Mission Mate, which lets you filter by side, by country, by plane type (fighter vs bomber etc.) and by time period.

Thank you very much for wanting to hear my requests.

good hunting to all,

@ Bearcat
Thank you sir!

@ Wayno
Thank you too.

@ Blindman

I get the filter for aircraft selection and I can see the benefit.

I'm not understanding what it is you are requesting (don't take offense, I'm thick headed). If you're talking about the order from the aircraft selection list when you change an aircraft type, why would you want to change the selection order? If you are talking about the order of the aircraft in the list on the main window you can change the order by clicking on the three different headers.

Forgive me Shift_E for not being clear. To help make it clear I am breaking the request down to three parts wherein I will refer to the plane selection list that each player uses to select their plane for the mission as the mission selection list (MS list for short) and the plane selection list that is on the QMT as the QMT selection list (QMT list for short).

(1) I would like to be able to set the order of aircraft in the QMT list (which is actually for a particular squadron and flight) to match the order that they will show up in the MS list (just like you can now set it to list by Aircraft, Group or Sq/Flt).
(2) I would like to control the order that a flight shows up in both lists (which now have the same order) by simply moving the flight to a new location in the QMT list (or something of the like).
(3) I would like to be able to click on a flight in the QMT list and change it to any desired new squadron number and flight number.

As an example I want to change an existing ground pounding mission of 6 flights of aircraft in no particular order to now use 6 different types of aircraft and I want the order that they show up in the MS list to have the CAP aircraft listed first and to be listed in numeric order.

good hunting to all,
=Blindman=
