I want to make planes takeoff and land from carriers but everytime I try to make a mission involving this it just makes the plane blow up in the middle of the ship on spawn. So how do I set carriers to allow planes to use them as airfields? Thanks.

Make sure that you "set" the takeoff point to the carrier. Also, there is a max number of planes per carrier with the rest doing odd things (like ending up in the ocean).
