Just a question, but could we ask that pictures be sized to some sort of defacto standard? We've pretty much exluded any interested parties that don't have a fast connection. It's taking these pages longer to open and then there's a lot of scrolling both vertically and horizontally just to see the picture. I have a fast connection, but I'm still on a 17-inch display and I'm sure I'm not alone in that department. Not trying to raise anyone's hackles, just trying raise some awareness levels that not everyone has a 21-inch display or broadband.

I'm with you Spectre. Llike you I have a very fast conncetion and even on a 10" I'm scrolling sideways.
Admittedly I just as guilty as the next as there are times I post an 1154 X862 screenie, (they do look nice that size), but it's not hard to reduce the image size with irfanView or similar program prior to uploading. How about asking for 1024X768 max resolution for posting? Would that work for 56Ker's? Of course it would be an "honor system" admittedly but it might help. Sounds good to me, Beebop. IIRC, 1024x768 was the most commonly used resolution according to posts during the discussions on pixels depicting distant aircraft.

When I take a 1024x768 screenshot, I use Paint to resize it to 66% of original, and it fits in the borders of the posting window

Great tip Chuck. Thanks.

Here's a trick i learned a couple of weeks ago.
[*URL=http://your large image here.jpg][*IMG]http://your small image here.jpg[/IMG] or [*URL=http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e307/RAF23-Kapt/B-17formation.jpg][*IMG]http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e307/RAF23-Kapt/B-17formationsm.jpg[/IMG] * Remove the stars for it to work properly. And it will look like this. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kapt_A, |

A Japanese AAA and AA bunker with multiple guns. Place maybe 3-4 of these down on the airfield and you get relatively decent suppressive fire. However, when tested against enemy aircraft, it wasn't very effective. Adding more 75mm AAA in gun emplacements is. I added 4-5 of these full emplacements around Peleliu airfield along with 6 other 75mm guns in bunkers. This provides adequate cover fire. What you really need to protect your airbase is fighters.
EDIT: Resized IMG to 800 x 600 pixels for comfort. "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you..." -Gandalf |

Looks great Boosher. Shows everything it needs at a size that won't choke slow connections. Well done, sir. Isn't the fine detail amazing?

"One, You're cleared for takeoff."
I don't think so... Mayhem caused by six destroyers, three cruisers (Ger. coastal defense) and one battleship (IJN generic), range 20(!) km. "Bogusville" has a large port: Another view showing the breakwater: Various bridge objects were used to create the causeway, which cuts through those nasty 2D trees nicely: They're mad with me again. Time for Buffalo Bill to get going. The port & causeway still look good from 13,000ft: Final approach to Maddox Atol. The lights were placed on the grids of runway #3, then the runway was changed to #4: This message has been edited. Last edited by: bigchump, |

Just an observation Bigchump but did you intentionally use snow covered bridges for your causeway? You got alot of work put down there.Looks good.

Kapt A, I couldn't find any bridges that covered the trees that didn't have snow on the edges. Did I miss something?

I just had noticed the snow on the edges of the bridge,object 240'ish.If you scroll back just alittle bit through the object list. There are the same bridges but without snow,object 220'ish.
Believe me i know the time that goes into creating missions and maps and i was just curious.I hope i did not offend you by pointing out my observations. |

bigchump;
That's looks great! You did an outstanding job! Here's something that might help, a link to a wonderful online objects guide: http://www.sturmovik.de/oe/index.php It has filters so you can filter out winter objects, or nothing but winter objects if you desire. You can filter out everything but airfield objects for instance. It's quite versitale. IIRC it's current to 4.03. I gave it a destop shortcut and leave it open while in the FMB. Then, if I get stuck during mission building , I jump back to the desktop, find my item, then go back to the FMB. Keep those ideas coming. Thanx Kapt & Beebop!
The fix was *easy* using Wordpad. I laid the corrected objects on a blank map to find out what Oleg named them, then did a search and replace on the mission files. The corrected causeway: Jeez, I can't believe I made a stupid mistake like that... |
