The mission I mentioned in my last posting is ready now: Download
You have to tow a glider to a remote and embattled desert base.

I've amended the title and made it sticky. This technique works with any map and this post is VERY well presented. Thx bird_brain Big Grin

If for some reason you need to take it down, let us know. We can probably arrange for someone else to host it.

This is great I was just working on a new Italian - British campaign based on the new Desert map. I may have to redo everything now Blink ..

What I don't understand is why didn't they give us a nice new big Desert map or Pacific map instead of all these tiny online maps? Half the maps seem useless to me, there flat and uninteresting. Disapproval

Any idea if we can or are getting new bigger maps?

I've just downloaded your "Blue" Desert Campaign and I'm having a problem. All goes well until I hit the fly button and I receive an error message. It reads, "Error Landscape
'SandsOfTime/load.ini' loading error" Any ideas? I'm just starting to get into mission building and this has really stopped me cold.

Do you have AEP with patch 2.01 installed? The desert map comes in that patch. The campaign won't work with AEP out of the box.

Thanks plumps, I haven't been able to download any of the AEP patches as my 56K modem takes way too long. I'll just have to wait for the next version or find a high speed line with which to download the patches

It is about 102 MB if I remember correctly. If you have the ACE expansion and want to give me your address by PT, I can burn a CD & mail it to you. Happy

Birdbrain,

Thanks for your generous offer. Unfortunately I don't know what PT means (DAAAA!) Sometimes I'm a little slow. However, once you respond to this and let me know I provide my address etc.

Thanks Again.

PT = Private Topic

Go to "my space" at the top of the Forum page. In the drop down list select contacts & type in my name & add as a contact. Then go to Private Topic & select "new topic". Invite me & then post your address. That way you are not posting it for the whole world to read. Wink2 I already have a CD I can send.

Really good stuff bird brain! Smile
It has opened a new dimension in mission building!
Just got one question: Is it possible to move the spawnpoint for your own aircraft.
I'm making a RAF bomb mission for the normandy map and I don't want to start on that sucky island in the north. I want to start in the english channel sort of speak.

Is that possible?

Regards!

Bird Brain,

Is there a larger map for the MT that can be used for missions?

Has anyone heard of a decent British Channel map that will become available?

Typical RAF nut just looking for a good map for a decent bash.

Thansk much for the great info, Bird Brain. I've tried to edit the larger MT map for some missions but understand why it isn't just that bloody simple.

Cheers, mate.....

I am afraid not. I have heard some rumors that 1C will do a Med theatre after The Battle of Britain, but I will need glasses & a cane to get to the computer by then. Wink2

Battle of Britain is already in the works and will put my new computer to the real test, but in the meantime, most of the mission builders are using the Gulf of Finland map to substitute for the Channel.

It kind of inspired me as well! Big Grin
I am not very well versed at coops, but as I understand it, the spawn points are at pre-determined points on the map. Do you have the PF merged install? If so, I imagine you can place a practice runway off the map to the north and take off from there.
That should at least give you the trip south you are looking for.

you could just place an airstart waypoint, but if you really want to take off off the map then a test runway would have to be it.

In one way, Static Test Runways are more useful than regular FB airfields. All aircraft are SET to takeoff and land on Static Test Runways, no matter where the aircraft takeoff and landing waypoints are--even across the map. To change airfield location, just change the location of the Test Runway. This drags the whole Squadron or Group with the Runway. Of course the other mission waypoints should be changed too if the Test Runway is moved more than a few tens of kilometers.
