A noob question from a mission building noob.

I have noticed airfields that appear on Full Mission Builder, all disappear when you start a coop; (although I have some missions where they don't).

Is there some kind of filter in FMB that controls this?

Appreciate any help.

The only airfields that disappear are the water "airfields" for seaplanes. They show up in the FMB, but they don't "appear" on the map once you are in the game.

Please provide more details if this isn't what you are talking about.

Sorry Zeus. I didn't make myself clear.

Here are a couple of pictures of what I mean. In the first picture (Full Mission Builder) the airfields show up. But when the coop is loaded, they no longer show.

Simple. The "Home base" are there MOSTLY for Open mission to select were to Spawn. In Co-op's there almost useless

(BTW just a side note even tho that this is not the right place to ask but how do i set up my signature to show a photo?)

adrianblue,

I have tried to change your signature profile to reflect your signature but something isn't working properly. Suggest you take a look at your profile and see if you can figure out what is wrong.

It should look like this [IMG]link to photobucket [IMG].

Also suggest you go back to photobucket and rebsubmit your signature file.

Not really adrianblue Happy

I know about the home base situation and what that does. I'd still like to know if there is some kind of filter that would show all airfields in game. I flew a mission the other night where all the airfields did show up but dashed if I can find it again. It was a Faull_Blue mission but there are over 350 of them and I can't seem to find it again.

What do you mean that they were dashed? Could you mean like Putting a home base on every airfield and then setting army none?

Sorry adrianblue. Being dashed is a Brit expression which means I am frustrated or lost for words.

Afraid you are making this way too complicated m8. and don't understand the point I am trying to get at.

It is not a major issue.

With co-op missions...if you have your mission brief written to have different briefings for red and blue...then the first screen will just give an outline to the situation and tell you to choose your a/c first then return for briefing..

so the initial screen will show no airfields because it is waiting for you to choose a plane and side.....red or blue.....then it will show you your waypoints airfields and targets...but not those of the opposition

When setting up airfields for dogfight missions you have to put at least one unit (tank, car etc) of the appropriate side (red or blue), within the circle of the Home base in order for it to show up as an airfield of the correct colour.

Might'nt this be also the case for co-ops? I can see from your pics that the airbase that doesn't show does not have a unit in it.

Hi stathem m8. Thanks for dropping by to say hello and offer some advice.

I think I have managed to confuse everyone who has read this thread. I know about the home base option and understand how it works.

What I want to know is why all the little airfields and bridges on the first map (Full Mission Builder) disappear once you bring up the game map? Is there a filter you can set to have all the airfields show in game?

Hey BG,
I got your email. Honestly I'm not sure why. I can't remember if this happens in static campaigns - I don't think it does. As far as I know there is no filter to control this.
I'll check and see what happens in my set-up.

Hi bg, sorry I wasn't much use.

I've had a go myself but can't find anyway of solving your problem either.

Just thinking out loud here, to maybe jog some memories, but I seem to remember seeing this as well in the dim and distant past. Might be a false memory though.

I was wondering if this was something that used to occur with earlier versions of the game, ie the original? I seem to remember it used to be this way once, but a later incarnation of FB took away the sight of the airfields.

Might the case you're looking at (airfields showing) be in campaigns or co-ops that were built originally for the 1st IL2? Unfortunately I don't have the original IL2 installed anywhere at the moment in order to check.

Thanks for helping stathem. Funny thing is, I ran a coop the other night and all the airfields showed up in game!!!!

It was one of the Faul_Blue missions and I have 350 of those. When I tried to find it again, I couldn't remember which one it was.

It would have perhaps given me the answer.

I believe placing objects on those airfields makes them show up as that particular color. Try placing AAA or a spotlight and a few static planes at the airbases. It might work.

blairgowrie,

You posted a screen of a briefing map. Simply put, the briefing map does not display bridges and airfields.

If you have any missions where they ARE displayed there, it would certainly be interesting.

I know you stated you saw such a thing, but at this point I would respectfully say that you are simply mistaken.

However, if you could actually produce such a mission, I would certainly apologize to you.

He,he Aviar. I think you are right sir. I think I must have imagined it since I can't find it now. I'll keep looking though.

And thanks for your suggestion Boosher. I'll give that a try.

Just to let you know, Boosher's suggestion will affect how the in-flight map looks, but will have no effect on the briefing map.
