I've done the research and I've put together the first part of my campaign. When I start it... I go through all the startup screens and everything works well until I am seated in my aircraft... unfortunately... it the wrong aircraft. I've checked to see which aircraft I designated as the players... the check is in the correct aircraft in the correct mission... but the campaign engine is selecting the wrong player aircraft. It put's me in an F4F flying over the field at start-up (Aircraft I placed there to simualte aircraft performing a low fly over... they should have been AI-Only, I manually desginated them as AI-Only. My desired aircraft for this mission is a lone SBD on the runway for takeoff. It's there, but without me in it.?? Help.

Hello
Solution is simply: On properties tab under "Army", you can select specific group for your squadrons. If everyone are like: "Russian Army <none>", your plane (player) been select by your rank from any flyable planes (game select it for you). If you want player to be in specific plane, select player squadron to be different then others, like "3rd IAK". That tells to game, that player have to be in that squadron and will be. So leave every squadron, where you don't want player to be "none" or different then player squadron. If you have like three flights for takeoff and you want player to be in one of those, select them to be same squadron and your plane select by your rank (lowest=last plane, highest=first plane=leader of that squadron, apply to order others in same squadron). But if you want player to be in first flight, select that flight to be different squadron then others. Did I repeat it enough many times. Well, hope you got it anyway. Good luck. |

This drove me crazy on my first campaign too. The game assigns you to a specific plane in a squadron based on rank. Highest rank = plane 1 of flight 1. Lowest rank = plane 4 of flight 4 (or last plane in squadron if you do not have all 16 planes in use.) There is no way to change this.
You should put the player's aircraft in its own squadron (1, 2, 3 or 4); especially if the player starts at a low rank. Then the player will certainly be in the aircraft you have selected for the mission. If you need to have other planes in the same squadron, put only non-flyable aircraft in the same squadron (example C-47). If you want the player to be the flight leader have the player select the highest rank when starting the campiagn. That way the player always gets plane 1 of flight 1 of your chosen squadron. Yes I think I've got it. I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks.

From your description I take it that the labeled squadron... the actual named squadron doesn't matter. It's just the Squadron (1,2,3,or 4) and Flight (1,2,3 or 4) that I assign under the properties tab, correct?

That is correct, squadron names do not matter.
