Last night I flew the last mission of a campaign I got from M4T. Its goal was to land on a carrier, which, by luck, I actually did! however, I got a nasty shock when I went to commit the mission, and hit 'apply' only to be greeted with the prompt - 'You were captured!'

What do you supposed could have happend there? Obviously a problem with the mission setup. Is the carrier assigned the wrong army or something, or did it steam into enemy territory??

arr.
thanks,
Dadio

One way to find out would be to open the mission that you flew in the FMB and see if the carrier goes into enemy territory.
If it does there is probably a time limit factor to the mission too.

What campaign was it ?

Hey Wheels..
thanks, yup I got it sorted out.

Yup, the builder of the mission made the carrier steam into enemy waters, so by the time I landed on it, it was in enemy territory. Ouch.
I opened up the mission in FMB and fixed the problem, and reflew the mission, and all was good.

It was a nasty shock, cause it was the last of the mission in the campaign and I was really really hoping for the 'complete' message, only to be sent to a Japanese prison camp instead!

(It was the Baa Baa Black Sheep campaign - I was having fun flying with Pappy and the black sheep boys!)

thanks,
Dadio

It sounds like the campaign maker followed Pappy's career to the letter.
He spent 20 months in a POW camp.

The only campaign I could find at M4T was this one:

Is this it ?

Wheels,
yah! True that's absolutely correct. I'm surprised I didn't see the irony in that - beings as I just finished Pappy's book about 2 weeks ago! It was excellent! Though unpolished, but a very good read.

Which is why I got interested in vmf214 and got the campaign in the first place. Trouble was.. that getting captured off your own carrier was kinda incongruous with the real circumstances of Pappy's capture, plus it was reported that having completed our first combat tour we were headed off to Sidney.

Oh well, minor slip.. got it fixed up.
