Can't help you with this request B50. Only link I may have that's of general interest is this one: http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/english/
but I don't think I can help you in this instance.

Except to quote my 4th Law of Mission Building:

"If you have to make it up, then make it up".

I may have to make it up...

Edit:
I just need something, anything. An airfield, a battle, a kill, a location, a biography an interview... something to go by on a given day or week.

Out of all the stuff I've looked through these last 3 months, I've found nothing concrete for 1943, like the info I have for 1941/42. With detailed interviews and documentation, air battle scenarios, coroberated losses and victorys with detailed locations and situations with accompanying biographies. Maybe I got info spoiled.

Found this fellow: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/3gviap/3gviap30.html

I think Canon has a skin for this. Maybe he knows something?

Go to the main page and VVS research gold beckons: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/index.html

There's a forum there as well, and this Massimo Tessatori gentleman appears to be happy to share info.

That's great site that Massimo has. It was one of the first that I came upon when beginning campaign construction.

It's a great site for colors, variants and markings. It just doesn't have the type of info I'm looking for.

It contains things like: "East of Lake Ladoga in 1943". or "Flew 175 sorties with 60 aerial combats up until 1944".

I need more along the lines of: "In Early (month, at least)conducted escort missions for Sturmoviks of (xx) ShAP in (blah blah) area." Or, "In this engagement on (date), 8 LaGG-3's were set upon by 6 Fw190's and 4 Bf109's in support of ground troops of 54th Army. 2 Germans shot down for the loss of a LaGG.

I actually found that my primary source (allaces.ru) added a passage of info since I last looked while building missions.

I have it up on Armchair General Forums for translation, as some of the terms and words I can't find in my dictionary. No responses as yet, but it will certainly help with winter of 1942. It has alot of info on Places, Missions and Equipment that is relevant.

The only thing is that, I will have to get creative, because just like in 1941, when the ice came, Naval operations cease, and the 3GIAP goes back to ground support south of the Lake. All winter.

The difference between 1941 and '42 though is LaGG-3 35 instead of series 4, and the 190 is introduced in Jan '43. My concern is that the difficulty will increase by a large degree with the vastly under armed LaGG against Il2's overarmed Fw190A4. I hope that I can keep it playable.

The last sentence is basically what I am after.

"Covering forces in Lobanovo region, Sinyavino, Lipka, Schlusselburg and 55th Army in Krasny Bor and Kilpino regions."

"East of Lake Ladoga" sounds off-map, so it looks like that's going to be an issue all of itself.....

That was sort of a "for example" statement.

3GIAP was deployed, conveniently enough, within the confines of the Gulf of Finland map for the duration of the campaign.

I still have october '42 to build, and by then, maybe more info will be available.

Well, October 1942 is built. 32 missions so far.

I still don't have the information though, that I feel is necessary for continuation of construction beyond this point. My campaigns have always been historical in nature, and I have a problem with just throwing missions together.

At this point I will begin shooting .ntrk's for the interludes and getting the skins and the readme together. If I can't find the required info by then, I will release the campaign as 3rdGuards 41/42, even though I don't want to.

I'm not going to break the campaign into pieces either. The second half of JG27 was **** cause I had to rush it.

I need:

1. Airfields that 3rdGuards flew out of Dec 1942 to January 1944.

2. Kill claims lists or any pilot biographies (if someone can scan me some of Kaberov's book, that would be nice.)

3. Any accounts of JG54 or Finnish fighter Lelv's that interacted specifically with 3rd Guards during the aforementioned period.

My exhaustive searches have netted me nothing beyond what I already have.

Please help B50. Sad

Mission 33 complete. Disregard above post.

Thanks to the wise words of wisdom from Phil_k, CzechTexan and PBNA_Boosher I will continue with the campaign, info or not.

When I was testing mission 33 I realized (again Smile) that even historic missions never endup the way that they were accounted, nor do they ever end the same way twice. F-it. Mission 33 is awesome, and I guess in the sense that it takes places in Leningrad, with a real regiment, over a place they did fly, doing a mission that they did do, if fits the description of semi-historical.

A couple of screenies to keep it going:

Sorry they're not better, I'm building you see, so I don't have time. Big Grin

Thats the spirit. The players impact on the historical nature of a mission means that almost no mission is utterly truly accurate. I usually research as much as possible so the scenario is historically oriented and everything is generally where it should be...but at the end of the day you're creating a work of art and a few artistic liberties are worth taking to make something interesting and/or fun.

Yeah, nice one B50.

It's always a good idea to remember how divorced from reality this sim is. Russia really has more than two types of tree for instance. The number of hours in each day is not constant. There were more than a handful of different types of runway layout etc. etc.

I'm immersed by any mission that is historically plausible. As long as it could have happened then it is historically acceptable imho. It was the verities of circumstance and HQ whims that allocated one squadron to a specific base at a specific time - it could so easily have been different.

Campaign is looking awesome, btw.

Thanks guys! bow

I would say that I am more than half done. I have the week off of work, so I will try to finish this whole thing up. (Doubt it, but there's always hoping) The weather is poor out here right now, so I should be able to knock out quite a chunk.

Here's a CSAR mission for Phil_k. (Yes, rockets Big Grin)

Provide close air support for a downed Shturmovik pilot, until he can be extracted.

Good to hear from you Anton.

I hope things are going well for you first of all.

I'm chipping away at mission after mission. As you can see from the last few posts, infor mation has dried up for me a little for the winter of '42. But I plan to stay with it, doing the best that I can until more information is available.

I got a laptop so I can continue building after I go on my trip. I may have to get Kaberov's book for information to draw upon, because I can't take all of my references.

Anyway, good luck with everything.

Well, Nathan, not everything's well with me...
I'm sitting home jobeless, hopeless & depressed a little, but "Russians don't give up"! Wink
The only nice thing is that I managed to connect my home laptop to I-net at last!
What I'm trying to say is that if you're need any help/info , I'll try to help you anyway I can...
Btw, did you think about having a campaign logo screen featuring besieged Leningrad?
