Hi Im trying teach my buddy the game.
I made a mission for him to practice take- off, lading, carrier landing, ships to sink and bombers to shoot at. I saved it to the missions/ net/ coop folder, gave him my ip adress but when he types it in he cant connect to me. (times out) I have it running when he tries to log on. Is there a giude some where? the little manual isnt much help. ( from forgotten battles) Appreciate any help, thanks |

sounds like a firewall problem of some sort.
can anyone join you? If all is well then your friend ought to be able to join you if he's typed the right IP. Once he's joined you can start the game - any mission you like... Ah, final thought, if you'd already hit fly in a co-op he wouldn't be able to join; is that the problem? |

Ahhhh I didnt think to turn my firewall off. Thank you for the answer!
While im here, is there some trick to setting waypionts for ships and trains? I can set waypionts for aircraft and vehicles, but not ships or trains. |

Ships should be straightforward, so long as the waypoints are not too close to land, which the game won't accept (make sure you're not trying to set WPs for 'Stationary Ships').
Trains only have 2 WPs - a start and a stop WP. You may have to zoom in almost all the way, so that you can make sure the WPs are right on the rail lines, otherwise the WP won't be accepted. |

This is not entirely correct about the trains. If you want to edit the .mis file you can add more than one waypoint for the train. See this thread by fabianfred. How to ... run trains anywhere... This method will work for other things too. You can run ships in inland rivers or dry land if you want. You just have to be able to get waypoints located where you want them. See this thread by Spectre at M4T. Generating river traffic Instead of using a stationary objects like Spectre tells you in his thread to get the extra waypoints I use aircraft waypoints instead. You only have one thing to remove later and they are easier to generate. If you leave the plane in the mission while you are building it the plane does not interfere with the ships ability to follow the waypoints you edited. A stationary object located at the waypoints you created for the moving object/ship will cause a collision between the two objects. Wheelsup |

My buddy still cant get on my coop mission. The Hawaii map is a stock 4.08 map isnt it?
I made sure my game was switched to 4.08, and his is too. (firewall and virus off) Does it matter that he has vista and running a router? (I have xp) As you can see, im not very tech savy. Appreciate any other suggestions and tips, Thanks! |
