Well I've posted my new "The Pirate Menace" campaign on Mission4Today, and so far it has 100 downloads (hopefully by people who will actually give it a shot rather than web spiders/bots), but any tips for letting people know a new campaign is out there?

I guess I could post on the General Discussion board, which worked well for my previous campaign, but I already have a topic on this board and don't want to get accused of spamming, though this board is really slow.

You indeed have a thread in here about that new campaign, the 'Coming Soon (...)
But, that's not the announcement that it's done and ready, available for download...

Go ahead, create a thread in GD, tell the world it's ready ...

(As you stated, this board does not get that many visitors...)

Good Luck!

ok FT, thanks, I'll make a proper "New Campaign Out Now" topic on GD tonight. Cool

Yes, put it on GD with plenty of secreenshots please. I enjoy your concepts and I'm sure everyone would like that thread.

Sorry, but this board just doesn't have enough traffic and that's why I posted my "Red Terror" screens on GD instead of here.

whisper You all could also just announce a new campaign/mission in here, and then PM a mod (like me), and request to create a shortcut to it in GD.

Shortcuts have that special icon in front of 'm, and they do to tend to 'stick out' a bit, might get some for extra attention... Cool

As the others suggest...post it around a bit. That said don't expect a giant response to every campaign. Some campaigns will be more popular than others...my Storm Clouds 2.0 release (which is weeks old) has almost as many downloads on M4T as my Green Hearts: Kurland or Facing the Wind campaigns and those have been out since 2007. The Shooting Stars, my first campaign, doesn't even have half as many as those.

I figure...build what you want to and if you get 100 downloads then at least 100 people are hopefully happily playing away. Mission accomplished. Anything else is gravy.

Find my missions at Flying Legends and Mission4Today.com.

IceFire is right, expect little and do a lot to make your work visible. I always use more than one place to publish it. Wink
