First appologies to the Black_Widow9 for making a wrong post
Hello Sense there will be next Far Cry as i read from internet i thought i might post my ideas up here Big Grin * More activity around the world To give better atmosphere you should add loads of non mission related traffic and activity.maybe such as drug industry or weapon industry that constantly stays active.Such industry would include loads of static targets (warehouses , plants etc...) and loads of transportation. -Random convoys that transport goods.This either some larger enemy reinforcements or a convoy delivering stuff , like goods and weapons.They should be pretty well defended and often include at least one truck full of troops.(by the way , why is it that current convoy trucks seem like an empty ones even if mission says they deliver a weapons.Do they carry an invisible ones ?) -Random trains , they do the same.They usually have at least one train car with mounted weapons and loads of soldiers on it. -Transport ships some are bigger and some are smaller.You could sink even the largest. -Some rare airplanes , possibly for transportation. * The enemy responds Lets say if you raid enemy outposts and convoys/patrols in one area repeatedly in a certain amount of time they should respond accordingly as well.For a start they should put more patrols and heavier patrols.The second is that they put more guards to outposts , more defenses.But if even that fails eventually , because your attacks continiue they might as well decide to send in an anti-partisan strike units or something.This is what happened in world war 2 and its aftermath for example.thats what any authority would do if they were regulary under attack.They would try to deal with it. However for the sake of rookie players having trouble to finish game even on easy such a situation woulnt happen very often.And i woulnt mind if they even sent a hundred troops or more to search trough one area once i have raided theyr outposts dozens of times.Some people love to play in one area anyway constantly raiding certain points over and over.I know it because im one of them. * Officer system Every larger squad has an officers in it.Near them the men fight better.This adds some touch to the gameplay.If you kill an officer , the quality of squad drops notably.So next time you sneak close to enemy and pull out the sniper rifle , you know who to shoot first. * Weapons First off , i would like a different weapon dealing.An unlocking weapons maybe yes , but instead of infinite free weapons at warehouse you should pay for them.Maybe not in diamonds , but money.Dollar or euro should have a value even in warzone.You can earn money by raiding enemy outposts or by destroying theyr convoys and this is not a part of any mission.You can do it anywhere with any hostile target. Also , how many weapons and what weapon i can carry is decided by the weight of the weapon and such , not by under what slot it goes.More you carry the less mobile you are.You could upgrade how much stuff you can carry with a backback item. * Ballance out weapons and make them work more realistic.Also ballance out theyr prices. -Many weapons are unrealistically accurate or inaccurate. -Add bipod for M249 and PKM so you can be more accurate with them.They are also too cheap compared to other weapons. -Add bipod for some snipers too.Same reasons. -Snipers should shake a bit , even if proned and aimed.They shoulnt be a perfectly accurate either. -No super accurate dart rifle , make it at least less accurate. -Mp5 is practically classified as an assault rifle.It uses same ammo as kalashnikov and pistol bullets (9mm) are not good enough.Just walk over Ak47 while holding MP5 and see yourself.Same time the ammo upgrade for submachineguns doesnt affect MP5 either , it gets extra ammo from assault rifle ammo upgrades. -This is already suggested , but i would like customizable weapons too. -Also make weapons last longer.Add repair kit , so you can clear out weapons out in the desert. -Grenades kill cars too easy , IED should be for ambushing convoys not handgrenades.I think handgrenades are bit overpowered , they shoulnt blow up a car so easy. * Some new weapons and items -A body armor and backback would be cool.One for protection , other one to carry more stuff. -A scuba gear.You could swim next to enemy ships to plant a bomb. -Flash light , night vision.That off course if you decide to make nights darker , now they are almost as bright as a day.Not to mention the infrared goggles.But these could be used on daytime too to spot a snipers position! -Mountain boots for climbing.Talk about this latter. -Anti Tank mines and land mines , no comments.The standard mines cand blow up a car but are better against infantry btw. -Hand grenade upgrade to make booby traps. -I want some modern rifle , HK416 , M468 or G36c or anything. * Reputation and statistics -Im playing right now on the hardest possible difficulty and im having a problem with the reputation.I think players should get more rewarded when they raid enemy outposts and anything that isnt directly related to any mission.A reputation should rise in time if you kill more enemies , i dont mind if a lot slower than if you did "missions".But right now as far as i know i could kill a million enemies and still no reputation change. -I also have a serious problem with the fact that i dont have any stats for kills.I would like the game to count them too and even classify different type of enemies separately.A snipers , privates , officers , VIP people etc... Or even how much enemy occupied equipment blown up.This kill score thing is absulute MUST and not adding this might cause me not to buy a game Frown Thats because im usually arent interested in "missions" , i rather go and raid random outposts and blow up random convoyis.Kill score will add a critical element to this. * More physics Sense we are talking about FC3 , we should go a step foward and have loads of more physics.A destructible bridges for example.You could blow it up just as when the enemy convoy is crossing it.Or you could blow up some cliffs or stuff so they will block certain roads.You could simply deny enemy access to certain areas.A huts should not survive a direct blast from RPG fire either. * Custom difficulty Enemy firepower , health , inteligence, the number of enemies and many other aspects should be separate to set.Once you choose a new game you can for example choose number of enemis to be highest , but difficulty of them to be just hard. * More animals , like elephants and lions ? Packs of hyenas ? A cats in towns ? Some mice or rats running around ? First off all , there are a lot less predators in the wild than plant eating animals , so you barely could see any lion for example.And second , thye are not Stalker mutants , so they dont attack at sight , they rather stay distance and besides they shoul donly be seen at the places with least roads.Not in sand desert off course. * Player movement kind of sucks. Firs off all , you have hard trouble jumping out of water in many cases.Then climbing on top of a small rocks.Maybe a climbing ability ? Being able to drag yourself over the edges to higher places instead of just jumping ? I cant right now to climb over some higher fences too , like these wooden ones.Or add mountain boots item , which means you just dont slip off from ledges so easily. * Darker nights.All trough i already mentioned it , i dont really like the almost as bright as day type of nights.Besides i already mentioned words like night vision and flash light.I think they should give you some hint. *Respawn options.Yes , there should be a possibility to turn the respawn on in singleplayer.So once you die you can spawn at any one of the safe houses.Adds nice extra element to the game especially when played at the harder difficulty.But you can also turn it off if you dont like. * No more invisible walls , there are some all over the world.Gets annoying when you try to explore world.Also allow us to climb more into the mountains.Thats why i suggested mountain climbing boots. * Snipers seem to have an ability to see at night just as well as at day.Enemies see you too well in jungle , the leaves wont block theyr visibility well. edit : I also noticed that when i answer the call sometimes the sound wont play.Especially with the assassination missions. Oh thank god i can post replies again.
For a while it said "you are already loged in as orchunter88 , please click on here to log out and in with a different user" or something. I just wanted to say that every time i use quicksave it makes a whole new save , so i end up having so much of them it takes longer and longer to refresh load games list.It shoulnt make new saves every time i press F5. Somehow i have feeling this has already been suggested. And the firefights to control one base or larger area are too short for me.I once made a map for Half-Life 2 Episode 2 that had like one large 4 floor building with a basement and some smaller ones.The whole map contains a 400 combine soldiers and i finished it with a hard diffculty And one of the ways of making game harder is to make them NOT to come after you.Ive used this in the Svencoop maps , you make enemies stay theyr position so they can lay down crossfire.That crossfire is way more dangerous than enemies that come after you , because if they come after you they become an easy targets to ambush. edit : i also noticed there is a funnily rotating enemy mortars This message has been edited. Meh started my own thread on this but didn't see this here. How come this isn't a sticky ubi.com?
Originally posted by DaveThejackal: I like Far Cry 2. I like it a lot. However, like one of my other favourite games Enemy Territory Quake Wars (ETQW), it's not very accessible or involving at the start. I'm not saying the game should be dumbed down or made easier (in fact, im many cases I'm arguing the opposite) I'm just saying it should shout what it has to offer louder, so that new players see it for what it is, in all it's glory and don't walk away after a few hours thinking, "wtf!?!?!?". You may dismiss most of the comments below as highly subjective, trivial or minor concerns, but many of them have been commented on multiple times by many players and have caused them to turn their back on Far Cry 2 in favour of other (IMO less deserving) titles, just as they left ETQW for Team Fortress 2 in droves. These little things count. I'd also like to preannounce I'm a dumbass and if any of this is already in the game, my apologies 1. Gunshop and Gun room. a. The most basic improvement that could be added to both these facilities is information on what you're buying. Both the relative strenghts and special abilities. All that's needed is the stuff you get when you click a weapon in your journal, plus a bit of 'sales blurb' e.g. for the flare gun "The ultimate for night time illumination, though don't fire this at anything flammable, you may end up in trouble!". Replace half the weapons list portion of the gun shop screen with this information and have the relevant information pop up on screen in the weapons storage room when you point at the relevant weapon. Why is this so important? a) its an obvious convenience, b) it drive players on, as they see what they might be able to afford in a while and c) it informs players of what they're about to buy and enables them to make informed decisions rather than just guessing blindly, win, win, win. b. This is just my opinion, but other than the central gun shop in each region, GET RID OF ALL OTHER GUN SHOPS. I'd even be in favour of their being just one gun shop in the game, providing there's always some way of getting there (bus rides aren't that difficult). Why? It would make the weapons boxes you can put in safe houses more meaningful. Players like to make meaningful decisions and what to put in those boxes could be one. At the moment the boxes seem more or less irrelevant. Even without a local gun shop things wouldn't be that bad, the gun shop is, afterall, just a bus ride away. c. I'll ignore the nonsensicality of being on a mission to bring down an arms dealer and then relying on an arms dealer to ... oh just forget it. 2. Interface homogeneity: Put everything on toggle rather than 'hold down the right mouse button'. I.e. rmb toggles the eye glass and 'aim'/'zoom' modes with weapons. Again this may seem like a small issue but when some things do toggle (e.g. the map, different map resolutions, journal), and others don't, it's just messy. Yes, another small point but a good one. If you don't want to annoy players who like it the way it is put an option in the options section to switch between 'rmb hold' and toggle for each such control. 3. Game difficulty This is a bit ubertrivial but, for the PC at least, rename 'hardcore' game difficulty as 'normal', rename 'normal' as 'easy'. Rename 'easy' as kindergarden. Set the default difficulty at what was 'hardcore'. Let's face it on what is now 'normal' the game is just plain boring, at least it comes alive with what is now 'hardcore'. 4. The Journal/Options a. All different sections of the journal should be accessible by a different key press configurable from the options menu. I can see this might not be possible for consoles, but on the PC it should be. b. This is just a personal preference, but I also don't like the save/load/options being in the Journal. Again I can see this being a console design consideration but hey, this is the PC. 5. Respawning at checkpoints and other locations: please for the love of god, at least put in a delay of say 10-20 minutes (dependent on difficulty level) before these are repopulated. Alternatively, though I can't see this happening, wait until a road patrol hits the checkpoint (or just wait a few minutes), then send a vehicle load of mercenaries from either the closes bus station to repopulate and provide the requisite vehicle(s). Send a convoy of vehicles to repopulate larger places. This is more ambitious but the code for convoys and people in vehicles is already there, would it be that complex to add it now? When you look at the extra free content provided by other game providers it's not such a big demand. 6. When I need to get most places fast I just drive through the desert until I'm close, then drive inland. This does seem a little like 'cheating'. Put a few more things, camps etc, in the desert to make my life more challenging. 7. Yes it looked good in the pre-release footage, but for me the fact a buddy magically appears from no where to rescue me when required breaks immersion. Was it really too difficult to have them come with me on a mission all the way, with a basic set of commands like 'ceasefire', 'attack', 'cover me' or think of another way of doing this? What about the sound of an approaching car, gun shots, then my buddy shows up, and we retreat to a safe location close to his vehicle. Why does my buddy hand me a pistol? None of my other weapons are missing. It'd make a lot more sense if this either didn't happen or I was left with only the pistol he/she hands me, my original weapons dropped where I fell (and could be recovered by me). 8. The 'use' hand icon. Sometimes what this will do is obvious but not always. All that's needed is a small piece of text above the hand explaining what you're about to do. E.g. "open door", "find out more", "accept mission", "place explosives". 9. Diamonds: a. Having diamonds for missions deposited in to my 'account' just doesn't make sense and breaks immersion. Have me go to a safe house to collect them or even mark a location on the map where they've been left (even if it's just a standard diamonds briefcase). This may seem like more hassle but it's also more immersion and in a game like this immersion is where it's at. It'd also make missions longer, seem more involved etc, which is pure win. b. Keep the total number of diamonds I have somewhere on screen permanently. I hate having to go all the way through to the stats screen to see if I have for the next weapons upgrade. Having just listened to the FC2 ComDev QandA, I agree with most of the comments made, however I still think my criticisms are valid, and these sorts of issues, whilst they may seem like small things to people who've played the game for ages, impact deeply on the impression a game makes. "Players who have played the game a while have gotten used to the way we did things", is the lamest and most short sighted comment a game developer can make, and is bordering on arrogance. It's more or less a tautology, like saying "people who like the game like it". You're not bothered about the people who've gotten used to the game, you're after new customers. Far Cry 2 is a beautiful, great game, just let people see it right from the get go. |

Me too lol.But then the Black_Widow9 closed it.This should be sticky to notice
That would mean i cant have even half of the freedom i have now.Its just my havoc that once i set my foot on a mission i wont be back before i have raided like half the worlds outposts , many of them twice or up to 5 times.I also change weapons many times even if i rely on FAL Paratrooper , which should be as reliable as Ak47 , only more accurate.
It doesnt bother me so much than the original system.But i agree.
For me all the missions are also miserably short.Maybe thats why im raiding every outpost out there twice ? Wait , i would do it anyway.But the point is that i would prefer a battle that took at least 5 times longer in order to control one area.If you ever can do that.Tried to attack both Pala and the other town , but there you have to stay in one corner or they overrun you.I wish they were more static and less mobile units.
You mean like in Stalker Clear Sky where every outpost didnt fill up instantly ? Instead they reinforced them from other locations.And for sake of gods love not from bus station lol.First what then when they arrive there just at the same time as you "jump in" from another location ? And second , military bases should stay as source for it.Or they travel in from the outside of the world.
How about machinegun nests hidden on the borders to wathc over if anyone wants to get inside the country or leave it ?
Maybe the buddy is from the movie jumper ? Because the same is with him getting into a safe house.You run from the place he saved you into the safe house and no matter how fast you are hes already there.Its got to be an ability from Jumper
Maybe hes doing an advertising to a certain weapon companies ? You know how intrusive salesmen can be these days ?
Or develop psychic ability.Then you dont need this text
The money has no value , but they can transfer a diamonds in this world ? Either its another form of teleportation or there is some form of digital diamonds.I mean like there is digital money in banks these days.
Same here.But it isnt so important for me as i just woder around and dont do much related to missions Hope you can review my ideas as well. |
||||

Meh you have too many ideas but good ones none the less. And the reason I suggested them moving in from the bus stations was it would be like them coming in from the outside. Hardly perfect but 'doable'. Your idea about officers: why says officers are always a benefit to a squad? The infinite weapons in the weapons room was something I thought about, it's not like your ever really forced to dump a weapon (apart from the annoying buddy 'here take this handgun for the whatever it is you needed for the mission'). Why not limit players to just 1 of each, if they lost it they lose it, adds to the challenge. Or at least make the weapons only refresh at the end of a mission or something. Also, how about they let us see out current loadout in the weapons room? Dunno if bupids are necessary, but it would be a nice touch. I also wanted the ability to zoom in/out on the sniper/eye piece sights. Darker nights: I think that's the HDR making them look brighter? I'd say gun flash is pretty bright, especially at night so I can understand how snipers spot you. But generally foliage doesn't seem to fool anyone in the game as much as me. Ideas I'm not sure about at all are: -Hand grenade upgrade to make booby traps. -A scuba gear.You could swim next to enemy ships to plant a bomb. They should also fixe the sound, add in occlusion and stuff, right now it's not great at all. |

Well try to run an army without any officers and you get a silly mess.Its just adds for the gameplay in my opinion.Then you could have more tactical approach. And i hate how they are shooting trough anything , even trough ammo boxes and explosive barrels by the way.I saw once a whole section of 15 troops blowing themselves up and like few ever survived.The mortar and RPG troops also shoot blindly on anything , they dont give a **** if theyd kill a million of theyr own troops.The patrols that have the grenade launcher on top likes to blow themselves up.And that mortar , i dont get it.Does it shoot explosive shells or not ? All i see is a smoke and dust As about shooting near friendly troops , i have to remind what russians did in stalingrad.They tried to stay as close to the germans as possible , so they cant use the mortar fire.
That would be problem for me , because i dont do any missions lol.I want to be able to get the weapons even 10 hours past the last "mission".I just wonder around.Sooner or latter i would run out of "weapons" and there would only be a finite numbers of them.Once missions are all over , i would still like to carry on.I want to play as long as i like , even a million years if i could.Not that i want this long (maybe just a half of it , ok?)
I dont know , im using my game everything maxed out.Havent tried anything "lesser".
I dont shoot any weapon and they already detect me.Fortunately reaching to act 2 turns them all into a dragunov users , which means they cant shoot for shait.The accuracy of weapons seems damn messed up.MG nest is less dangerous than a pistol fire even at hardest difficulty lol. I know that because they made a game where you trave alot on a car , it would be extreme diffuculty trying to travel trough the country if every sniper and every machinegun hacked you in moments.I played on hardest difficulty and it runs out i traveled twice as much on foot than i ever drived together.Even swimming distance was 5km.But i stopped playing because i messed up my kill score counting , which is very important for me The best way of making an open world shooter is making it urban like Gears of War or something.Something similar to the battle of stalingrad.The point is that there is an open world city , full of open buildings i can fully explore from cellar to roof.And there are 2 sides , trying to conquer it.The player chooses either side and rushes into an endless battle where every house , every territory every corner is fought over like crazy and many places change hands dozens of times.I just want a game where non-stop action can last of a days if you like.Its just crazy how intense it would be. First off all i would add a respawn , so you dont have to load game all the time.Its not an easy game you know. Second i would add kill score stuff.In great detail.I already mentioned it. And third i would make enemies HARD , the MG nest gets you in the open your dead.The mortar hits you , your dead.The sniper hits you , yourd dead.Kind of like these player vs player maches on online shooters where 2 teams try to capture the entire map , but battle just doesnt progress because every time one side captures one nest , the other side either takes it back or captures something else somewhere else instead and neutralizes all progress.But thing i hate about multiplayer or bot matches is that you die too easy and no group ever run around in certain formations as they should. Talking about gears of war , a human vs some orc-like army would be cool.The humans are lesser in numbers , but better in quality while orcs are 5 times weaker , but that many more massive in numbers.No im far off the topic lol I quess im sort of hardcore gamer because i know EXACTLY what i want and im very picky on games. |

@orchunter88:
I don't think it has to be urban, FC2 could have worked. One thing that struck me is that you never see the factions fighting. It's like the whole place is a ceasefire zone other than for you. I guess they were too busy putting in fancy shmancy arm-binding animations to do the AI? STALKER was a good game/environment and came alive even though it wasn't a city (shame about the bugs). IMO the first and greatest open ended game has to be Deus Ex, though the GTA series come a close second, even if they weren't first. Also games like the Baldur's gate series have to be listed. I hated Oblivion (follow an arrow and hit something but don't worry that something will be easy to kill because of the monster levelling system) and I haven't played Fallout. EDIT *** Just bought Clear Sky since I haven't played that. Heard bad things about it to start with but recent comments seem more positive. |
||||
|
We are actually goind too far off topic here , its better if were not , before adminds get angry lol
But talking about urban environment , it would be million times better even in FC2 if all these buildings were open instead of closed.Having a loads of empty buildings would be just cool |
||||
|
I don't think we're saying anything that's out of order. The reason I don't think a city is necessary or wanted is that the theme of FC2 is 'the african savanna' and as such making it overly urbanized would seem out of place. Same goes for the underwater scuba diving idea. It's easy to list loads of things and say "I with FC2 had this and this and this and this ..." and never stop, I'm just trying to stay 'on topic' with the FC2 theme. There could have been a much better game here without necessarily changing the feel of the game. They failed on the small ordinary things, many of which seem perfectly 'doable' and that's a shame. I very much doubt it but let's hope they do something good to address these issues in the new patch. Oh I just thought of something else. Why does the audio only change to the dramatic music when shots have been recently fired? I'd much prefer it if the drama was maintained whenever enemies were in the area that were alerted to my presence (as it is in most other games). It gives me feedback and let's me know what's going on, which is good. |
||||
|
I was talking about open world shooters in general in last post , when i spoke about urban world and so on.Thats why i said its going far off topic.Besides there are towns in sawanna too , at least they should be fully open

After the 1.03 patch, fires seem to be buggy in the multiplayer. Flamethrowers crash the game and sometimes fires won't go out.

I'm here to report a Multiplayer bug. I have no idea what triggers it, but it has happened at least twice now since I started playing online.
When I go to to an ammo pile (any ammo pile) and try to resupply with the use key, the handprint will not display onscreen, even though my ammo supply is depleted. So I am unable to get any additional ammo as a result. I have found a workaround for this however. I have to first heal myself, and the handprint will then be displayed onscreen and I am then able to use to ammo pile. If I am not damaged at all, I have to inflict damage to myself in order to heal. Which then solves the problem. If anyone reading this has experienced this particular bug, let me know. |

Stuck at 65% at the door on Dogon Sediko. After the 1.03 patch I still can´t rescue the prisoner as the "hand" icon doesn´t appear as I stand in front of the door.

Well, after 4 playthru's under v1.02 with no bugs,(nvidia v175.16/9800GTX/XPsp2) i reached the mish where you have to "convince" the radio DJ @ Weelegol to read a paper your buddy gives you.
When the hand prompt comes up, im supposed to see my machete go up to the guy's throat. This was no problem until this time(since the new patch). Now, my game sort of freezes. I can see the DJ's eyes blink, but i can't see my machete, i can't move, i can't re load a quicksave, and i can't escape. Nowt works. I had to alt/tab out to DT and close the game. Upon restarting the game, i re-did the Weelegol mish, tried using a different door into the radio hut, tried different weapons upon entry, tried re booting my PC, and finally, i tried the new WHQL nVidia drivers(185.50) all to no avail. This is a small bug, i suppose, but if i cant cooperate with my buddy on these types od missions i dont get some or all safehouse upgrades. D'oh! I should add that when the patch auto-installed i was approx 50% into a game, and i just picked up where i had saved previously. |
