Yes I know that it's beta and unsupported but bear with me.

Now I'm just trying to get singleplayer running properly so no pb problem.

The system is:
e8500@3800mhz
4 gb ddr2 PC6400
2x320 gb in raid 0
windows 7 64 bit US

The game installed and updated to 1.03. I am however having the loadscreen/freeze bug. As in the loadscreen freezes for seconds at a time with looping sound then continues a bit and then freezes again. This continues until the game starts and are more or less frozen in place with 1 fps. Just takes a while to load fully.

This problem was also in vista originally where it was fixed by a service pack at some point.

Right now I'm working around it by setting the compatibility of fc2.exe to windows 98 but performance is low with one core only (I guess its that).

So I just wan't to know if theres any way to work around this annoying bug other than the compatibility mode? Or do I have to dual boot into vista everytime to play FC2 properly?

Basically this is more of a convenience issue.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Depending on where you got your copy of the beta and unsupported Win 7 you may have also picked up a pretty nasty trojan.

My understanding of the Win 7's that are already out there were all leaks and not official releases so "you spins the wheel and takes your chances" with that game.

meanwhile punkbuster is supporting win7 for fc2. use pb_ver in the fc2 console. if the pb client is installed but not started then tweak the settings in the win7 user account control.

Windows 7 not supported? That's not so surprising when you think about it: Vista is just barely supported as it is. Clap

Paid a lot of money for the game - this makes my sad. We players pay the jobs of the entire Ubi staff. So what about a little fix?

Since the OP was specifically focused on single player, I'll chime in...

Far Cry 2 seems to run fine for me under the retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit in single player. Performance is comparable to Vista at the same in-game graphical settings (1440x900, DX10 enabled, VSync enabled, all other settings maxed). I played for about an hour and saw no visible slowdowns, crashes, or other anomalies.

This is on a Core2Quad q6600, 4GB RAM, 9800GT 1GB all stock clocked.
