Dear developers FC 2!
What do you think of opening of resources of game for modding? It would be fine, if you have given to players unpacker which very much would help with creation mods.
Thanks.

without a singleplayer/multiplayer map editor i doubt you will be able to make SP or MP mods, would be nice tho.

A multiplayer map editor is packaged with the game in case you didn't notice. Too bad if you didn't, as it's one of the best map editors to date because of its' brilliant simplicity.

I need to unpack all resources of game. It is necessary for creation various mods for SP. Now it is impossible, as it is not possible to unpack all files.
Therefore, to me and my companions it is necessary Unpacker, created by developers from Ubisoft.
Mods to game not necessarily should be global, but the corrected trifles, like irritating revival of fighters on posts or impossibility to change a weapon cell, can improve the relation of players to game considerably.

OI SFM777 listen please, FC2 comes with a multiplayer Map Editor!
But it does not include a singleplayer Map Editor. Ubisoft has not released, nor will the release a program to unpack the game files. on the simple reason that the game is 2 years old, and has 3 patches. if they were going to release a SP Map Editor to create Mods, they would of done so early last year or in a patch.

We can hope for it in FC3 but i dont think we will be getting one for FC2 this long after release.

Respected BioError!
In the first, game have made only 1 one year ago, instead of 2.
In the second, not so long ago, Ubisoft has removed protection from game. It means, that game has paid off. To hide resources there is no sense.
In the third, I do not ask developers to make any additional patches and editors for game change. About what I ask the only thing, to give to players the program with which help it is possible to unpack and pack game resources. Such program should be at developers as without it they could not make game. The program can be placed on site Ubisoft that players could download and use it for creation mods.
It will raise interest to game and will strongly improve reputation Ubisoft at players all over the world.
P.S. I all it write not only on its own behalf, but also on the instructions of big community Russian FC 2 players from the largest Russian game site.

You are correct SFM777. Even I badly wanted that DEV tool/unpacker long back to somehow edit/tweak the game files (.fat/dat). But I don't think we can get an SDK now.

And uploading that DEV tool/program extractor to the public won't be easy for UBI.

Despite that, FC2 won't be able to properly support Single Player MODS I think. We require a complete Editing of the AI, scripts etc. But it's also not impossible, it can be done. I can only hope and wait for any DEV tool. Please UBI try if possible ? Frown

And yes, the game is 1 year old, not 2.
Cheers.

*Edit*: Forgot to mention that I was able to extract/view the game files, but unable to repack them properly.

Start writing one, someone has started the work for you
http://hawkeye.jnana.de/FAT2+Archive

GTAIV isn’t any different, and they have made massive strides
in making mods for it.
It just a much larger and more dedicated community that’s all.

Hi DKM2,

Yup, I know about that code. But it would be nice if an already implemented tool is given to us. Just unpack/edit the files and repack them again. Because we need at least few community members here, to make this work properly.

But I hope SFM777 and his friends can do this for us ?

FC2 isn't that flexible to MOD from the Single Player perspective. Nonetheless, let me look into some other alternative if possible. I only need a proper Repacker tool. I also need help/clarification from some DEV on this one. What if we create a new folder called 'MyMods' inside the 'Data_Win32' folder and place all the edited files there, will they work properly in-game ??

Hopefully they should. Anyways, Cheers. Smile

This is a good point- Ubisoft's reputation in the modding community could be salvaged with little effort on their part.

I wish to write that it was possible to change in game:
It is possible to change a loss all weapon (a head, a torso, hands.feet).
It is possible to clean effects of a malaria.
It is possible to open all weapon in the game beginning.
It is possible to change balance of ammo and granades at different levels (easy/normal/hard/very hard).
It is possible to correct a rate of commission (in diamonds)
It is possible to change weapon cells (while it is underfulfilled).
But without normal unpacker, it is impossible to open all files of game. Because of it, work goes extremely slowly. Good results so not to achieve...

Hi SFM777,

You are correct. I'm using one archive tool for the *.fat files. I hope to get some success, but we still need a proper DEV tool.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2.../FC2Archive_view.zip

I have gone through the LUA scripts. I want to make the MODS run separately, via a command line parameter, instead of repacking them. But I'm not sure the game will run properly that way. Maybe it can. The other feasible way is, by creating a new folder inside the 'Data_Win32' folder, and forcing the game to use the edited files.

But in any case, we also want a proper Repacker tool, if other methods fail. You can find most of the Scripts, inside the main 'domino' folder. We still need a proper extractor for the main *.dat files. The XML documents can be viewed by a notepad. But doing all this will require a lot of time/patience.

Let's see and hope. Sad

After selecting any archive, Just click on the icon/button which says 'Save all files in Archive'. After that it may ask you for the location/path to save it, so browse to any location or folder you like and click on the OK button.
