First, why can't they include american Flyable fighters? I understand that this is a Russian game, but still, they could at least include the F/A-18 Hornet so that there could be carier operations on BOTH NATO and Solviot sides.
It wouldn't take too much more, you can already land a Su-33 on the Nimitz in the game. (assuming that the USA and russia are on the same side.) I would love to see my favorite, the F-14, but cannot be included for the obvious reason. (2 seats)
Please tell me if this has even a chance of suceeding.
not really, we just have the F-15 and A-10. Some of the F-18 avionics still remains classified and with ED's new standard such as clickable pits with AFM, i think this is a no. Plus you have to model the cat for the aircraft carrier.
NAVAIR (Which I am slowly, but surely, learning about thanks to K_Grape and Jewels_201) is very tight-lipped about ANY aircraft documentation being released to the public. I imagine that a Dash One for the F/A-18 is distribution category D, which means...civilians aren't getting one.
That being said, however, I think the LOMAC team should still go for the F/A-18 and make educated guesses...since the armament of their A-10 is pretty much as wrong as it could be...and nobody but a Bug driver would know the F/A-18 model was inaccurate. Even if he did, PA wouldn't authorize discussion of real capabilities anyway, so I find the "we can't get the manual" argument a little weak. I just realized, Mitch Janssen's A-10 pit actually has the correct placards next to the gun rate switch, in addition to having the placard correct on the FED switch. To credit the LOMAC crew, however, if you LOPE a realistic payload to the A-10, the ACP actually responds accordingly. Put fuel tanks on 4, 6, and 8...the ACP will actually indicate "FUEL". If you load GBU-10s or 12s, PAVEPenny actually works and is limited by LOS, so I'm not sure how the stock A-10 loadout ended up being as inaccurate as it is. The potential for realism is there, just not implemented in the stock loadout.

Really? cause GraphSim Made F/A-18 Iraqi Freedom. Looks alright. (bad graphics, oh well, nothing diferent from F4.0)
one other thing, Have you tried landing the Su-33 on the Nimitz in lo-mac? try it, it works! arrestor cable and everything! (not the catipult however. ) so programing an american naval fighter would not be outside of ED's reach. Actually, NOT AT ALL! the U command used on the Kuznetsov could set you up on the catipuld on the Nimitz. I really think ED could have done more with this game.

Graphsims OIF??? Are you kidding me??? Nothing realistic with them games period! Weapons damage is innacurate, I can literally get the plane to do a 180 turn so tight it should rip the plane apart and do it at 2g's, the radar can see basically everything, the ecm isnt even modelled at all, I can keep going on. I will say, however, that the weapons list is pretty accurate. And I pwn all in any PSF-related game by graphsim.

well i guess its due to ED's new standards of trying to be as realistic as possible. But i heard ED got the F-18's manual and such, not sure about the once classified info though, but i can say its a step closer. But there's no plan to make one actually.
Well, it's not going to happen, as I've seen your posts many times, ED's going to discontinue the lockon series with Black shark (a shame... I wanted to see it continued. but the helo should be fun) so, it will be an f-16 and tank killers next, maby by then more will be avalable on the F/A-18... Maybe...
It's too bad about the TOMCAT. i'de have loved to see a good F-14 Sim, but now, it looks all down hill, what with it's retirement and all.
Its true that Lock On ends with Black Shark but that's just the title. It is within the contract or whatever with ubi that they have 2 addons, FC and Black Shark. After that ED will still continue, rumors with tank killers and a F-16 sim, and who knows after that. Maybe an F-18.
I hope, But i've never liked the f-16 too much (maybe that's why i didn't like falcon too much... mmm ...) Tank killers doesen't intrest me too much either. the A-10's cool, but alreasy simulater well in lo-mac. and i really don't care for the Su-25 or the '25T for that matter. (WHAT makes it so great any way? ) Ive Always Liked Naval Aviation, so, a GOOD F/A-18 Sim would be nice. (I've only heard of one F-14 sim, for win 95, so the 'cat is off the list.)
yea my interest has always been fast movers. I mean sure i was fun to fly around the Su-25 (aka the flying pig) for a while but i much rather see a fully functional flanker or F-18.
There is a game that revolves around the F/A 18 Hornet called Top Gun. It has practically nothing to do with the movie except the same pilot, Maverick. I don't know how realistic it is. In my opinon it's armment is realistic and it's got a thick book talking about how tot handle the Hornet. I think it might be hard to get and doesn't have the greatest graphics or dog fighting.
Just one thing .... Its not the Nimitz we are talking about here CVN 70 is the USS Carl Vinson Youll find their HP HERE if you want to take off with a SU33 from its deck, just roll all the way back to the rear, brakes on, go full burner and let it roll all the way down. Giwing a strong headwind makes things even easyer.
