Something i missed from Flanker 2.5 was it's A-G Radar. ED did not seem to care to model this in the game and makes the game seem too easy. how realistic is this and should it be changed?
The A-10 uses the same dimond thing to show designated targets, but again, how realistic is this, as the dimond goes away when the target is distroyed.
from what i heard its realistic because none of those aircraft does have A2G radar so they didn't model it. This goes the same for the A-10, the diamond is designated IRL before the start of the mission so its programmed into the aircraft. Again I'm not sure if thats real but some say it is.
i never played flanker2.5 so i can't comment on that. All i know is that the aircraft version in lock on does not have AG radar just like IRL. Except firing the kh-41 from the Su-33, that's unrealistic.
Its true...none of the flyables in LOMAC have A2G radar IRL.
On the LOMAC A-10, the diamond comes from an imaginary FAC on the ground illuminating each target with a laser. This normally requires PAVEPenny, which has a limited LOS, so it seems like LOMACs FAC also sends target coordinates to your INS. Not sure how realistic that is. If you load GBUs on your A-10 though, you'll see the realistic limitations of the PAVEPenny pod.

Sorry i didn't mention that earlyer, i kow that the A-10 has no A2G radar. (or A2A radar either for that matter) However, i really think that the MiG and Flanker should have the radar. I saw a video somewhere with the MiG searching for Ground targets with radar, it's on you tube somewhere, check it out.
Well, any way, the A-G features in Lockon simplify things alot, almost too easy.
Well they are not going to model something that's not there. Because the MiG or Flanker you saw was a different version, the one in Lock On does not have A2G radar.
