And why would the navy use the f-14 against f-5...excuse me....Mig-28's with french antiship missies? It would seem to me that these Tomcat's would be better off launching them phoenix missiles at UFO's instead.

I think Glowing_Amraam's LOMAC movies (or for example the Maximum_G LOMAC movie) show much better action and have much better camera angles than Top Gun ever had.

I thinkg Glowing_Amraam should team up with Tom Cruise ;-), pick some new Holywood chik (the original Top Gun chik would be too old by now I guess :-) ) come up with story with some mystery point (like we had in Top Gun with "Tom's" unknown father) some love triangle (not that I need it - but just to get good looking chik into the movie :-) ) and release new jet-fight action movie - it's been a long time since good movie in this genre was released ...

Ok someone up there referred to Iron Eagle...Anyone see Iron Eagle 2 when the mysterious Mig-29s landed at the base that mysteriously looked like F-4 Phantoms? Come to think of it this movie sucked too. But that Mig-29 looked like a prototype development ripoff of McDonnel Dougie.

Anyone here played F/A-18 interceptor? That game cracked me up. They used to have F5s as Russian Migs flying off a Submarine/Carrier. The game also featured some funny bugs:
1/ End of the final mission attacking the Sub/Carrier with Air-Air missiles that had no effect. So I got bored and used guns to shoot up the last Mig28(F5) as it was falling to earth trailing smoke I continued shooting several times until I got the end of mission message.
2/ The second and somewhat funniest bug was being able to fly the F/A-18 backwards as well as the F-16. To do it just hit the minus key whilst in the air at a high enough altitude. The nose would drop and then the aircraft would climb tail first. If you hit chaff it would go past your cockpit window. The aircraft would continue to climb until you hit the ceiling.

If I remember correctly, the Israeli Air Force was funding/supporting that movie, hence the F-4's. Though the F-15 would have much more looked like a MiG-29, at least two tailfins anyway.
What really is crappy (besides the plot/story) is the BMP-2's they are using. They're just M-113 with square (!) cardboard turrets glued on top, with two plumbing pipes and fireworks mocking the guns (why two, anyway?).

BTW I did know that they were F-4's....I know better, trust me(They are both in LOMAC).

Now. Israel doesnt know what a BMP looks like apparrently, nor what a MiG-29 should too. So I have come to the rare conclusion that Top Gun sucks, the Iron Eagle series sucks, and a few other aircraft movies ive seen as well.

Anyone ever see Flight of the Black Angel??? Stars freakin whatshisname that played "dead Meat" in hotshots? Did some time on Home Improvement? That was a good movie...and so was Flight of the Intruder. Thems some good ol' movies to strafe things by. Top Gun sucks. Goose is dead, Maveric. Get over it.

Actually the best aircraft movie for me is BAT 21. Flight of the Intruder was good too. The book of BAT 21 is the best though as they used 1000s of aircraft to recover that pilot. And he contributed to doing a **** load of damage against the Vietnamese.

There is no such thing as a Mig 28. The Aircraft used in the Movie were T-38 Talons and F-5A Freedom Fighters, in real life assigned to the agressor squadron of the US navy, and repainted for the movie. So stop this you wanna be aviation noob

In a swedish movie "hamilton" 2 f-18's takes of from a carrier, and goes in to libya to bomb a terrorist camp..... But when they release the bombs, you can clearly se that it is 2 mig 29 that is releasing the bombs. Just studi the airinlets on the planes.. hehe

The Mig 28 was a American F-5 and for all you stupid people, Real Migs go by ODD numbers, the people taht made Top Gun couldn't use a real mig, becouse it was the cold war when the movie was made, so they improvised
