I would like the F-117's RCS to be simulated more correctly. The greatest advantage the USAF had over the Soviets was stealth. The F-117s would of penetrated airspace undetected the first night and bombed some of the most important targets behind the Iron Curtian.
In one mission I sent my Nighthawks to bomb a runway at 8000m, and they were forced to drop down to 500m due to RADAR detection from the BUK battery and a distant S-300 complex. I thought stealth was designed to evade radar.
It was designed to minimize radar signature. It doesn’t mean it’s totally invisible on the radar. If it was sitting next to a radar station, it would be detected. Stealth technology is mainly to reduce the radius of the radar stations which creates gaps for the plane to fly through. Everything has to be planned very carefully in real life, such as placing the correct waypoints...etc. But we are too lazy to set those waypoints so that's why it gets a little unrealistic there.
