and the reason I believe you have failed on this project. Now I need to give you some constructive criticsm. For starters, pick up a copy of Jetfighter 5 (made by Global Star) and tell me you selected a better engine to use than they did. Why does it play so smooth and with arguably better graphics than yours and on a low end machine with no artifacts. I know it's arcade style and not a simulator but, the 3d modeling follows the same concept and is good enough to illustrate my point. I wonder what would happen if you could use an engine like that for a game like LOCKON. I believe you would have a great product that doesn't require a mainframe to run it. The second problem is your marketing strategy in that you assume flight sim enthusiasts are all sitting around on high end computers. Otherwise, why would you let this get to market. I think you should take this idea, give Global Star a call and get to work on the greatest Jet Combat Sim ever to be developed because IMO, you haven't made it yet and there are lots of people willing to buy it.

I could tell you right now, if this thread was posted in the general forum, it would be flamed by now. Seriously, what is the point of posting this thread? All you will get is a lot of pissed off fans. Why? Because you are in a Lock On forum! You should do some more research before you start blabbing your narrow-minded opinions. First off, Ubisoft didn’t create this game, they are the publisher. Ubisoft pushed ED (the developers) to put this game into the market before the holiday seasons passed. Thus, the engine could be better but don’t compare Lock On graphics to Jet Fighter 5. Jet Fighter 5 is a disgrace, their graphics comes no where near Lock On’s and it’s an arcade game. That is why it runs so smooth since the graphics is so crappy. It doesn’t need a powerful engine. And flight simulator enthusiasts do adapt to this game since most people here did upgrade their computers. If ED worked with Global Star, they will only downgrade this product. Lock On is a very well engineered product, if you can’t accept it, then go back playing your arcade games.

Yeah im not flaming anyone - But Lock-on is a sim and thus needs far more computer effort to model the flight dynamics, compared with an arcade game.
What the hell happened to my sig? |

I couldn't have said it better myself! Jet Fighter 5s graphics don't even come close to Lock On. Also, Jet Fighter 5 dosen't factor in any weather such as wind ect. And it dosen't matter weather you take off with flaps up or down because the game doesn't factor them in. Lock On is a far superior game. What's the point of comparing an arcade game to a simulator?
Why the player can always do a tradeoff in graphics and performance.. |

GAH!!! I just looked up some Jetfighter 5 screenshots and it looks like it was made in 1998. The thing that makes LOMAC so fun for me is that it is a simulater through and through and yet ED has also managed to make it look fantastic. It even looks good at medium settings, even low settings look better than Jetfighter 5. LOMAC is unlike any consumer simulater to ever come out. Even years after its release it still manages to blow me away.
You say it takes a mainframe to run it, you say its a poor marketing stratigy to require such high end systems. Well, they did that to make this game last ten years. |

true, that jetfighter looks nice; however LOMAC looks better; I'll get the jetfighter demo - who knows I might be in for some fun

A person who was mastered flying one of the planes in lock on could probably take off in one, destroy a drone and land in real life without dying. I love this sim. The only thing that might be an issue is G force. Other than that, it seems like true to life flying.

Right...this game teaches how to fly...maybe it´s just a sim...but i guess any of us users...(if not for physical condition) could get on a plane...and fly...
Cuz we know how to...and how to use the systems of a plane... And since this game is a SIMULATOR...the PC needs to make lots of calculation...like Wind...the speed of the Aircraft...it´s inclination...the altitude... etc etc...so the PC NEEDS more "power"... |
