HEY EVERYONE,
I've pretty much sorted myself out as far as rudder pedals and TrackIR are concerned and have been pondering about a throttle quadrant. I want to stop leaning over the keyboard to change Prop. pitch and mixture amongst other things. Also my G/F will have a right go if i pay out any more for such things, hence the HOME MADE.
Been looking at my old Joystick for a while and thinking that the Z axis would work great as a Prop. pitch lever, as it does when you plug it in and change the HOTAS command. although having two Joysticks side by side is a bit cluttered.
I've looked on the net and a few people seem to have made their own throttles, pedals and 'trackIR'.
I have Two questions if anyone can help or redirect me to other threads. Firstly is there anyway of adding another Hotas command slot for mixture, (i.e. at the bottom of the list of the IL2 commands with power, elevator trim, prop pitch etc.) i ask this as you can't seem to put a moving axis as the button for increase/decrease mixture.
next question is about the Joystick components. I've opened up my old Usb joystick and the 3 axis seem to have similar components. the throttle obviously moves back and forth and the X and Y have a spring features. my question before i ruin a functional backup joystick is would i be able to have all three working as the basic back and forth Z axis if i get rid of the plastic spring setup. If anyone has any experience or idea that would be most helpfull.

Hey Tuphlandng,

I had a good look at the links.
I've now built my Throttle Quadrant. Got the X axis programmed as the Hotas for Prop. pitch and the Y as Power.
I'd still like to know if its possible to add Hotas to the list to have a axis for the Mixture.
thanks again

No, in IL-2 you can't assign Mixture to axis directly in GUI.
Using another software like GlovePie and JoyToKey
you can make that one axis send key press do IL-2, but is a bit complicated.
Look at NuMcA_of_CS post in previous link.

Here it is:
I have found a way to do it with GlovePIE. Mixture control with slider. Original post here:

And this post for using Dual-engine throttle control:

If you want other alternatives read here:

This can be done through many different ways.

  • Through Shinjiro's way

  • Through a simple hack in settings.ini of your installation. You assign both axes to control "POWER", and then create a program/script that presses "select engine #1"/"select engine #2" when you move one of the throttles.

  • Through GLOVEPIE. You create a script in GLOVEPIE in which you assign POWER to both axes. Whenever you move one axis, the program presses "select engine #1"/"select engine #2". You can read very detailed instructions and find working scripts here: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...921049526#2921049526
