I recently upgraded my rig and used to run an ATI graphics card. What are most of the nvidia guys using these days? I know the latest drivers dont always equal the best drivers.
I would suggest downloading some of the series 6 drivers at Nvidia.com. They used to have an archive of older drivers to chose from but I odn't know if they still have that available or not. You can install one, do a frames per second test and compare it to another set of drivers. But the best way to switch Nvidia drivers is to not only unistall the old one but also use a program like Driver Cleaner to make sure it's all gone. Then install another one. It's kind of a pain but it works. Be sure to only remove the graphics drivers when using Driver Cleaner though. Nvidia makes drivers for other things and you wouldn't want to remove those.
