It looks like my current comp is slowly going by the wayside so I'll be looking for a new one. Do any of you know much about Cyberpower, IBUYPOWER or Velocity Micro gaming riggs, or know of any others? I'm looking to spend right around $1000 or less if I can help it.
Thanks Wubke |

YOu should get a nice one for $1000 mate.
You want a Core2Duo possibly E8400 dual core? I wouldnt bother with Quad Core yet unless its no more expensive. Higher clock speed is currently more important than the number of Cores, and I cant see it changing totally for a few years yet. Obviously you want at least 2gb of Ram and with how cheap it is for the faster stuff, you could go for 4 gb. The new ATI cards are supposed to be really nice, although I havent seen the benchmarks yet, check these out before you decide on a Gfx card. BTW does anyone have any benchmarks for the new ATI cards vs Nvidia 9XXX series? EDIT: FOund some! WOW! http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/ati-4800-series-review.ars/4 Faster than the 9800GTX. DOnt be fooled by the 9800GTS x2, its two cards in SLI. ------------------------------------------------------------- "Over Dieppe, the wing was immediately bounced by a hundred FW 190s and a few Me 109s. I heard Johnson effing and blinding as he broke 610 into a fierce attack. I was hard at it dodging 190s, but I found time to speak sharply to Johnson about his foul language." - WingCo Jaime Jameson 12 Group Spitfire |

I just found this system for one of my squadmates who was on a tight budget. I KNOW that you can run 1946 with everything set on perfect with this inexpensive system.
PM me if interested |

If you decide to build your own rig may I suggest the new E5200.
Costs $83 and should clock easily to 3.7 http://en.hardspell.com/doc/showcont.asp?news_id=3687 Even a low end mobo can make this baby fly. |

Most people are not into overclocking...
If you got $1000 to spend maximum i go with a AMD. Something like AMD X2 6000+/6400+, AMD 790XF Mobo, and a ATI HD4870 card (maybe 2 in Crossfire), 4GB RAM, Decent 750 Watt Powersuply , Atleast a 250GB Harddisk, DVD burner, and a good Computer Case doesnt have to be expensive. That should give you a really fast system for your money with out overclocking anything. I sugest you put one togheter your self or have a shop asemble one for you if you. Windows Vista 64 bit is really a must have for a gaming computer IMO, runs faster and can make more use of the memmory if more than 2GB is installed. AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, Foxconn nForce 590 SLI, 4x OCZ 2048MB EPP DDR2-800, 2x Club3D GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Be-Quiet 700 Watt Straight Power, Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit |

I'm not sure if this is relevant here.

X4 2.2 and 2.3GHz, dont think thats gonna beat a X2 6000+ @ 3GHz or 6400+ @ 3.2GHz, or even the new X4 9950 @ 2.6GHz wen it comes to gaming performance.
