Hi, you can save the tracks to a DVD by just saving them as a file, but will never be able to get them to play back on a DVD player that way.

Are you just wanting to save the tracks for future viewing on your PC, or are you wanting to play them on a DVD player?

Future viewing and I am not sure that it would be the answer to another problem that I am trying to solve. I assume that the views should be pro programed as a movie and cannot me changed during play back. Am I correct? Or is it possible to record and save on DVD the entire match and views?

Howdy Tuph,

The NTRK files use the IL-2 game for playback..that is you must have the game up and running to display/view them...The files can be copied on a dvd and saved...you would then have to put them back into the correct folder in the game to review them....I solved this problem by making the wife's computer into a multimedia computer hooked to the TV...and then installed IL2-1946 on her computer...that way, I can transfer NTRK files from mine (my computer) to hers and watch them on the big screen...NTRK files are proprietary to IL-2 some sort of video capture program would have to be used to copy the file, but I don't know if you could then get multiviews or change speed or zoom....

So, probably the only way to do what you want is to save the NTRK files on DVD and reinstall them in your game to view what you have recorded...and I don't think having several terrabytes of files in the game folder would be a good thing....and you would probably go through a pile of DVD's to record them all...maybe an online site.."Carbonite"????

Hope the smarter folks here can be of more help to you....NDS_Camp comes to mind...

Best of Luck,

Old Pudfark...

Big Screen Nice

I used to save tracks and even make notes trough certain tracks so I could get the best views. And then delete the original tracks until I saw how much space each track took. Not having a large drive,80 gig,I stopped recording games. Maybe with a larger drive I may start doing it again If I can save it to a DVD and then clear some space.

Thanks really good to know. Just one more thing that makes this game so cool

Has anyone dedicated a hard drive for saving track files and if so how did you direct the files to that hard drive?

Hi mate, I am not sure if you can do that, I have leant my Il2 1946 DVD to a mate and just reformatted, so I cant check myself.

The tracks are saved in your IL2 folder, in another folder called 'records'

Go to 'My Computer'

C:/Program Files/UbiSoft/IL2(I forget exactly the name of the IL2 folder)

then look in the 'records' folder. You can rename these tracks so that they arent just a random number and IL2 will still see them.

You can just put a blank CD or DVD into your drive, open up the drive (it should be an empty folder), then just drag whatever tracks you want to save from the 'records' folder onto the DVD windows, then 'write files to cd/DVD' when you have the ones you want.

I dont think its possible to point the game at another records folder to view tracks from. You would probaly be better just saving the tracks onto a DVD or another HD by dragging them across, and then dragging them back into the 'records' folder when you want to view them.

Maybe someone knows if the 'il2/records' folder is mentioned in any of the .ini files and can be changed or not? I cannot look myself.

You could have a look tuph, open up the .ini files in the IL2 folder with notepad and search for any mention of the 'records' folder using the 'find' function'. Should only take 5 minutes.

PS If you dont like the windows CD/DVD burner, you can download a great free file burner called imgburn :-

Thanks Xiolablu3

Finding the files are easy and thank you. I do have a CD burner but the files didn't look similar to the ones I had burned before and I was unable to open them in the folder. And I really don't like messing with folders because for me that often end up with an overhaul of my OS. I only have 1 install of this game. I may have been looking at the wrong folder.

Can the track files be burned to a CD??
Thanks

I was looking at the wrong folder(intros) I opend the record folder and when I tried to drag and drop I got a improper format window

Howdy Tuph,

I don't know why I did not think of this at first Surprised

Here is what I would do and why.....

The first thing I would do is get an additional one terrabyte or larger hard drive....Install IL2 1946 on it without the Mods or any other patches other than 4.08M....I would not game play off this hard drive...I would use it only for viewing/editing the NTRK files....I would then play/host the game as you would normally do,off of your regular hard drive...and periodically transfer the NTRK's recorded there to the large terrabyte drive for storage/review....that is "place them in the game (records) folder" there...

I would do it this way because large drives are cheap, under S150.00, you already own the game...transfer from your main game folder to the larger hard drive would be darned quick...everything "at your finger tips"....

Hope this helps... Smile
