Hi there (:

i recently purchased a new laptop form dell.

intel core 2 duo 2.20GHZ'
4GB RAM
Intel GMA X4500MHD
160GB HDD.

i want to play il2 1946, with perfect detail.

i took the neccesary "vista" precautions

-didnt install into program files
-turned UAC OFF

i can edit the conf file, save it etc. but when i go to il2, perfect landscape detail is STILL greyed out (yes i am using openGL) and when i go back to conf it has been restored to origanal state. even though i have full ownership of it.

please any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

thanks guys (:

Post the contents of your conf.ini here please.
(For Perfect Landscape you also have to set it to a 32-bit resolution, and have 'Attempt Stencil Buffer checked in IL2Setup.)

After edeting the Conf.ini you shouldnt go into the Video Settings anymore in game or in IL2 Setup, that will overwrite the Conf.ini again.

Also i do not think its posible to run Perfect settings on that system... but it should be posible to improve things a little further with the Conf.ini

Problem is i have no clue about what effect the setting have on a Intel Graphics chip.

Best thing to do is go into IL2 Setup, and select Intel settings under Video, than go on from there with edeting the Conf.ini

It might be a good idea to download the latest DLL and IL2 Setup files from here before you start: http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/att...d=83185&d=1205425809

thanks for the reply,

i need to access the video options so i can set the perfect setting, or is this done automaticly?

i set the option to intel GMA 900, even though this is a brand new model of the intel series, i think it should do fine with running the perfect water (it has hardware shaders 3.0 etc all that stuff) maybe not im not sure.

my conf is as follows:

With nvidia cards I think you have to go to Nvidia Control Panel and set Extension Limit to Off. I dunno what card that is or what the intel settings are like...I guess it's an integrated card?

yes it is an intergrated card, it has many of the same features as dedicated cards, just slower clock speeds etc. im sure it would have no problem rendering the water, as it renders many of my other games great.

but like i said its a top of the line intergrated card, so yeah i dont think thats the problem but you guys would know alot more than me Big Grin

thanks (;

Go into il2setup and select maximum then go into the game, go to the video settings and make sure you're not in simple mode (i.e. one pulldown, you want several showing), and select perfect in landscape.

Try making the above adjustments to the [render opengl] section of the conf.ini, then go directly into the game and see if it looks better.

If you have selected "Open GL" and still have "Greyed out Perfect" check to see that you have selected "Attempt Stencil Buffer", this should be "On"

This might be a case of IL-2 itself resetting graphics configuration because the graphics hardware is unable to handle the selected options.

Does the resolution revert back to 640 x 480 when you run IL-2? That would be another sign this is the case. Did you try updating the video driver?

my video drivers are up to date, stencil buffer is selected. the video adaptor in this machine should have no problem at all. its a brand new model, this might be a vista related problem?

It will remain greyed out for ever with that graphics chip...

You needto try to enable better graphics by edeting the Conf.ini file, And do NOT go into the Games own Graphics settings.

You can only improve the graphics slightly that way but its never gonna look as good as it can on a Low End graphicscard.

I got the same Graphics chip in my Intel Core 2 Duo system, its not gonna be able to run this game in all its glorry, even though this game is based on a little older game if you want to run it perfectly it still has pretty high system demands.
