fantastic work!
I won't be home for another week or two, but I'm looking forward to trying these out. One question - can you click and drag these dials as before, or is it a fixed template? I'd love real gauges, but these look so good, and its nice to be able to switch between German, US and Brit gauges. Besides, my pit is made almost entirely of recycled joysticks and recovered junk from Thrift stores and Yard sales. The only thing I purchased for it were 10 momentary toggle switches off of ebay for around $20. All told, I'm into it for less than a hundred bucks. |

Ok now you are just being cruel
I think your pit is amazing. |

Vey nice indeed!I too built mine from household and old joysticks parts. Cheers. |

Nope, they're fixed on a single background. Except the landing gear indicator. I had to do that one separate in order to get it to work right.
I'm working on a 1024x768 version of the 109 gauges at the moment and I'm going to run some tests to see how much difference putting everything on one background really makes. I believe DD is doing something similar with the 1280x1024 gauges. -------------------------------------------------------- B-25/PBJ Precision Ordinance Delivery Manual "Bad grammar is one thing up with which we shall not put!" - Winston Churchill |

Thanks to FCIproject for jump starting this topic again.
Oh and nice work on the gauges C_M, |

Hey, Bubba. Here's a set of 16 color 800x600 Spitfire gauges that you can move around the screen. See what kind of a performance gain you get with these.

Awright, ladies and germs...I have a set of BF109 1024x768 optimized gauges. Before I give you the download link I'll share some notes...
I had a heck of a time getting these to work. Maybe DDasterdlySid can offer some insight. I ended up making the artificial horizon a separate gauge because I kept getting an access violation error. It read:
Using the process of elimination I determined it had something to do with devicelink ID 46 (Roll) and the placement of gauges in the lower right hand side of the screen, specifically the airbrake and low fuel gauges. Sometimes I could get it to work and sometimes I couldn't but when it appeared I had to reboot in order to continue testing. Hopefully it's just something with the laptop I'm using for tests. The version I uploaded seems to be stable but I can't make any promises. I also ran some speed tests. I created a regular 1024x768 version, a version with just 16 color graphics, a regular version using a single background and a version with 16 color graphcs AND a single background. I think I can confidently say that combining all the gauges onto a single background gives the biggest performance gain. Obviously the regular version ran the slowest. The version with just 16 color bitmaps came in third. The final two versions - single background with regular and 16 color bitmaps - were very close but the version with the lower quality graphics ran just a little bit smoother. After I ran the tests the high quality graphic version started giving me the !@#$%! access violation error so I've only uploaded the 'optimized' version until I or DD or somebody can figure out the problem. And here it is: [Replaced with version posted below] http://rapidshare.com/files/47029254/BF109_1024x768_Opt..._Background.zip.html Enjoy. S! This message has been edited. Belay that last, gents. I figured out the bug. Just be sure to start UDPSpeed before you start IL-2. If you exit UDPSpeed without exiting IL-2 you'll have to quit IL-2 in order to restart UDPSpeed.
Here's the latest version with the artificial horizon on the same background as the other instruments. Except the landing gear of course. That remains separate. I noticed this version is a little choppier than the others but I'm pretty sure it's because there are 50+ 'arrows'. If you remove the gauges you feel you can do without in the .ini file you'll get much better performance. http://rapidshare.com/files/47029254/BF109_1024x768_Opt..._Background.zip.html S! -------------------------------------------------------- B-25/PBJ Precision Ordinance Delivery Manual "Bad grammar is one thing up with which we shall not put!" - Winston Churchill |

Crash, I just dl'd the 109 gauges, and this is a dramatic improvement! It really gives me hope that we are getting somewhere. Thanks so much for your efforts!

Aw shucks...twern't nuthin'. I'm just building on all the hard work DDasterdlySID already put into these.
I still think my SBD gauges run the smoothest but, again, they don't look near as nice as DDasterdlySIDs gauges. They're all spread out over the thread so here they are all in one place: Now I think I'll work on some B-25 gauges... With all the renewed interest in Devicelink, I've finally got off my backside and finished the Spitfire gauges properly:
You can download 'em here here. Changes in this version include: -Added proper artificial horizon to replace the separate pitch and roll indicators. -Fixed bug with beacon indicator needle. -Improved calibration of slip and turn needles. -Fixed minute and seconds hands on the clock. -Changed layout slightly to better match real cockpit. -Added black strip at bottom of screen. This allows you to hide the red digital displays by clicking once mid-way between the base of the bottom row of gauges and the top of the red text. This set is designed to be run at 800x600 and each gauge is repositionable. Their refresh rate is just under 3fps as I've kept the high quality graphics mode. Hopefully we may see some "all on one background" versions with the speed improvements from Crash_Moses too Cheers, DD This message has been edited. Last edited by: DDastardlySID, |

thanks DD!
can't wait to try em. Still out of town for a couple of weeks (or more) - but I'll definitely let you know how they work out. Looks fantastic! |

another set, this time based loosely on fw190d.
mainly a cut 'n' paste job of DD's work put into 1024 single background format. taken a few liberties with some of the instruments and i'm sure someone with better ps skillz could do alot better http://rapidshare.com/files/53546542/fw190d.zip.html if you want to try it. a couple of links i've found that hopefully wil be of use/interest http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/index.htm http://www.spitfirespares.com/SpitfireSpares.com/Pages/instruments%2014.html my next set i'm trying to import photos of real gauges into the background. a quick taster where i've replaced the clock in DD's original spitfire set with a photo boost gauge. http://rapidshare.com/files/53546711/spitboost.zip.html |

a couple more pits, both using photos to make up a single background in 1024*768 resolution.psd files of the background are included for editing should you wish to do so.i have also put in a shortcut to udpspeed, renamed and with a different image- my desktop was getting hard to read
my first attempt is another spit http://rapidshare.com/files/56341528/spitphoto2.zip.html a few 'fudges'- the compass being the main one, but all are from RAF planes and i've tried to keep the theme with in sim utility.look out for switch positions the next is complete redo of the fw190, this time based on a ta152. http://rapidshare.com/files/56322043/ta.zip.html again some ahistorical 'features' like the use of the cockpit pressure gauge (?) for rudder trim and the dual pressure gauge as flaps.chocks and dive brakes are 'wrong' but again i hope in keeping with the 'feel' of the original. |

one more, this time based on a p51d
http://rapidshare.com/files/58724804/p51.zip.html a few notes as i've modified some gauges useage to match ingame functions and hopefully add some utility for other us aircraft- particularly p47- but also for usn aircraft- but no hook/ chocks indicators - couldn't think of a way to make them fit in direction indicator- opposite way round to ingame p51 bendix dir indicator shows supercharger position uc/flaps indicator is from p40 but i think it fits rad temp and carb air are raf i know- carb temp is 'faked' trim indicator is totally fake but i hope you like it triple gauge:- bit small so i've exagerated movement at 'critical' points temp is oil temp, reads ok upto 100 c- max is 125- overheat liquid cooled engines fuel pressure is fuel quantity, scale is irrelevant oil pressure is cht -moves to 11.30 position at 214 c, to 12.00 at 215 c- r2800 overheat 3 lights at bottom are from left to right: tailwheel lock, overheat (liquid cooled) and fuel low (~20% p51)- top light is wep. again psd file is included for 'modifications' should you so desire. |
