I just saw the annoucement of the new 200 series graphics card from NVidia and was wondering it anyone here has looked into, or even tried them yet.

They're very powerful but waaaay overpriced. The GTX280 was $600 at release compared to ATI's 4870 at $299. Nvidia is scrambling to from the prices to keep up with the beating they're getting from ATI.

Plus, ATI is adding a little more fire to nVidias feet with the soon to be released 4870 X2. There are a couple of previews out, and it's kicking the 280's butt.
Things are getting veeeerryyyy interesting in the GPU wars! nVidia's 280 being damned fast but damned expensive too... ATI releasing the 4870 which is not as fast, but MUCH better price/performance than the 280... nVidia responding by cutting the price on the 280... ATI bringing out the 4870 X2 which is faster than the 280, at probably the same price range as the 280... It doesn't matter if you are an nVidiat, or fanATIc, or just inbetween...the competition is making it a win-win for us users |

Heard nothing but problems and disapiontment of the GTX260 and GTX280 (GT200 GPU), NVidia is about to lower the prices on these cards again + the follow up/ replacment should be here before this month is over, the GT200b GPU, but now rumours are leaking on the internet that NVidia is gonna scrap it completly and come out with the GT300 GPU instead.
The new ATI Cards are really good, and for the price of one GTX280 you buy 2 ATI HD4870 cards wich will give you much more performance. AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, Foxconn nForce 590 SLI, 4x OCZ 2048MB EPP DDR2-800, 2x Club3D GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Be-Quiet 700 Watt Straight Power, Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit |

I was thinking about adding a second 8800GT that I can get by buying a Qudro 1700 card for my wife's system. She uses AutoCad a lot and doesn't play games. Her system is nearly identical to mine, so I can just take the 8800GT from her system and set up my system up in SLI mode. Then I saw the 200 series. Seems like the second 8800 GT may be the way to go.
