Hello All. Newbie here trying to get my new Logitech G940 Flight System Rudder Pedals and Throttle to work in Il2 1946. If this is possible, would someone be kind enough to explain how {in simple language please-lol}. I'm running VISTA on a fairly new machine, if that helps. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, newbies always welcome. Thumbs Up

I don't have aLogitech G940 myself, but the general principles are fairly simple, and are explained in the 'Setting the controls' section of Bearcat's Nugget's Guide.

Before you start on that I'd check that Windows recognises the Logitech, and that it is properly set up. In XP there is a 'Game Controllers' section in the Control Panel, it may be slightly different in Vista, but Windows Help should tell you where to find it. You really only have to ensure that it is properly centred, and that buttons etc work.

When you have checked the controller, follow Bearcats advice on setting each controller axis, and test it out!

There are many ways to fine-tune joysticks etc, but the default settings should get you started.

Let us know how you get on.

Open IL-2, go to Controls, scroll to HOTAS section, in end of list.

Click in the right side of Power, then move right throttle lever. OK.

Same for Rudder, then move the pedals.
Now select Brake, depress one pedal (default IL-2 don't recognize Toe Brakes - tip for this latter Wink).

Same procedure for Aileron and Elevator.

The rotators in G940 base can by assign to:
Aileron Trim
Elevator Trim
Rudder Trim

Left throttle lever can assign to:
Prop pitch (or Flaps)

Front rotator in G940 throttle can assign to
Flaps (or Prop pitch - depend of your previous choice).

EDIT - The rotator in right side of G940 throttle can assign to Zoom FOV - and the mini-stick in Joystick to pan your vision.
To this use Logitech software to mapping this axis.

Sokol 1 YOU ROCK! Thank You and also Thank You AndyJWest. I heard the people in these forums were friendly and helpful and so I see it's true. Thank You both for taking your time to help. I seem to have every command setup correctly, thanks to your excellent instructions. Just one more question. I know this probably sounds ignorant, but I've never ACTUALLY flown a plane, and The last flight sims I flew were the old Dynamix "Aces" series. These were using the keyboard "rudders".I thought that if you pushed your right foot FORWARD that would get right rudder. On this Logitech controller, when I bring my right foot BACKWARD I get right rudder. Is this correct, or do I have a problem?

You need to reset the rudder axis. Note if it is + or- then work the pedals until it changes Smile

It's not correct.
But, it's not a problem.

Go back into the assignment of the controls, select Rudder like before, then just move the pedals in the opposite direction than you did the first time.

If it now reads something like Z-Axis, it should afterwards read -Z-Axis.
Or vice versa.

I also happen to have a G940. The only weird thing I have so far is not getting a 100 percent pitch and throttle of the throttle.

Make a calibration of axis in Windows wizard.

And use IL2JoyControl to fine tune axis response.
Get in Mission4today.
