I've done a lot of searching here on the tech forum but haven't been able to find a good solution.

When launching setup.exe the select language option appears, but nothing happens after I select english (or any other language). The install never starts and setup.exe doesn't appear in the taskmanager either. Really doesn't seem to matter how many times I try either, the result is always the same.

I did try some of the steps in the 64 bit sticky like disabling UAC and setting the properties of setup.exe to run in WinXP compatability mode, but still no dice.


Pretty sure the DVD itself is fine because it will run on an XP system, so it seems there is something about Vista that is causing the issue.

Browse the disk, and Rightclick A.exe and run as Administrator.

I just bought sturmovik yesterday and only now had the chance to try install it, so i pop the disc in.... it does not read the disc.

I go to my computer and tell it to open, however this makes no difference. I have tried another disc and my computer is fully operational as it read my battlefield 2 disc.

However im on XP, not Vista

does anybody know the problem I may be getting?

Which version of il2 did you purchase? If 1946 then do you have a DVD drive? If you did not purchase 1946 then take it back to the store and get il2:1946.

I had to do that also with my version of the 1946 disk to get it to install on my XP machine.
