I have a new PC that is running great, better frames than I ever imagined. And everything cranked up really well, looks nice. Except for one thing, my cockpit bullet holes look cheesy and way less realistic than on my old, old PC with a TI-4600 AGPX4 graphics card!!

I've seen that before...I think it has to do with filtering or something like that but I forget. Worth looking at both the games filtering and the cards control panel. See if there are any settings that are amiss.

What settings do you have on your graphics card?

*note I don't get this problem even when I turn AA x4 , AF x16 and all the other little bits and bobs on (ATI catalyst control centre)

Looks like the main problem has to do with the lack of transparency... note how every pixel of the shattered glass "effect" is fully opaque white.

That is strange. Also, what are the two thin shadows that stretch from the wing to the wing shadow?

Are you running the game in Perfect mode? Didn't there used to be a problem with shadows showing up as white rather than black with some drivers/cards when in Perfect? Have you tried it in Excellent to see if it's still there?

I had the problem with the bullet holes in the canopy when I was messing with the graphics tab on the setup screen. For the life of me, I don't remember what it was that I changed and then changed back, but you might want to look there.

I fixed it! I had Antialiasing Transparency set on "multi-sampling". I guess it didn't like that much.

Naturally I'm such a great ace it had trouble getting an enemy plane to shoot me.
