Hello all, I've been searching for a couple weeks now and come up empty handed so i thought i could maybe ask here.

What I'm wondering about, is if it is possible to span my Il2:1946 across 2 monitors. I have a 2nd monitor actually on top of my first, and I would like to have it display the view one notch up inside of a plane while flying.

I currently have the 2 monitors connected to a NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX both using 1280 x 1024 resolution.

Unfortunately, IL2 does not support Dual screen use.

(There is support for triple screen setup, when using of Matrox Tripple Head hardware...)

Though, for offline play you could use Devicelink, and display cockpit dials on the lower monitor: The Device Link tips and questions thread. (Not the setup you are after, but could be interesting)

Good Luck!

Thanks again!

Maybe UltraMon can help you out here. I know IL-2 works with my tilt-screen monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 740B); It even increases the vertical VOF - unlike with widescreen monitors.

You can configure your video driver to treat your monitors as one continous screen. I have done that horizontally where I had a 3200x1200 screen. Then I configured IL-2 to use that resolution and it worked fine. The problem is you don't get any more peripheral vision, but a lot gets clipped from the top and bottom. I have not tried doing this vertically, but I assume you would get a similar affect.

I can get it to work now finaly by tweaking it but the game resolution will not go into the verticle span mode, it just displays the 4:3 in the middle and the rest of the top and bottom are black cutoffs

Have you set your IL2 res (in conf.ini) to the new TOTAL res that both your monitors are using, and disabled saveaspect?

Could you please be a bit more specific on this tweaking?
Would like to know how this is done, so we can share this knowledge with others...

No you will not. IL-2 will increase vertical FOV. It will not increase horizontal FOV. unless you use special software and hardware together the right way.
You need to set conf.ini width and height to the TOTAL resolution of the individual screens, you NEED to set SaveAspect=0 - that's basically it. Screenshots will be the dimension you set in conf.ini.

exactly what MaxMhz said. i tweaked it by setting the resolution to 1280x2048, set my monitors to span mode (and to that resolution) and then i turned saveaspect to 0

It's a complete new experience. I needed several days to adjust after I rotated my monitor and set resolution to 1024 x 1280 Smile seeing everything from the pedals up to the mirror on top the canopy. On my system I even had a slight increase in FPS running it in portrait mode.
