I started losing time with the clock on my rig lately. I've reset the clock... but it still is off by a few minutes.
Can this be a problem related with a weak battery that is with the motherboard? Is there any test I could perform to check this out better? If so... are there any do's or don't's that I should be doing or not doing to swap the battery? Thank's for any help in this matter. Well, I suppose it could really be anything that is responsible for maintaining cycles within the PC, i.e. CPU, RAM etc. But it is most likely the battery.
On my mobo the drill is: 1) remove battery 2) move the CMOS jumper to the clear position for about 15 seconds 3) replace jumper 4) replace battery A new battery is probably your best bet, and they are quite cheap. BTW, after clearing your CMOS you will have to go back into BIOS and set things like the date, and anything else you have adjusted, back to your preferred settings. |

Thank's for the reply and the steps. Will head out tomorrow and pickup a fresh battery.
Again Thank's for the info. All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us... they can't get away this time. Lieutenant General Lewis B."Chesty" Puller (when surrounded by 8 enemy divisions) Metric Conversion |
