Interesting. I have a couple of questions.

# 1. With Antiliasing set at 4X or 16X, is there "really" that much of a difference? Is the performance hit worth the increase?

What does 8xQ and 16xQ mean?

# 2. Pre-rendered Frames: Mine defaults to 3. What does the difference from 0 through 8 afftect performance? What does this do exactly?

Lastly:

# 3. Texture Filtering Negative LOD Basis:
Allow / Clamp. What does this do, what does it affect?

Thanks.

Anybody know why that might happen? It opens up fine... but as soon s I go to Manage 3D settings... it freezes... the CP does.. still have a mouse.. and I can go to the task bar and close it out.. I get the Program Not Responding message.. but I cannot get into my 3D settings in CP with these new drivers..

Might be worth a shot at uninstalling and then re-installing or downloading again. Maybe you got a bad file download?

Nvidia video card programs do strange things. You should see all the trouble I have gotten into trying to tweek the video card cpu speed just using their own program for it! Crying

I finally just gave up it freezes so darn much. Sad

Why can't it be like the ati video card interface. Catalyst control center almost always works like a gem to get the highest speed out of their cards.

hey Bearcat I have an 8600GT card and it does the same thing to me when I open control panel on the desktop--it seems to freeze up. Let it sit for a couple minutes and it will eventually go back to normal.

still waiting for a response as to whether I should delete prior forcewares I have on my computer or should I leave them on???

Bearcat this is a common issue with quite a few people. I have had it with the last 5 or so Nvidia drivers. There is quit a bit of discussion on the various support forums. I personally contacted Nvida but got almost no help at all. The concensus is that for some reason the Nvida CP.exe file doesnt get registered or something. I have tried all the suggested fixes but to no avail.

The solution. For me I just use Nhancer to adjust all my 3D settings. In many ways the Nhancer interface is easier to use than the native (and for me inoperative) nvidia CP.

Nhancer can be found here:

BC...I was just about ready to post the exact same problems with the new drivers. For a week I've tried making them work and trouble shoot why my computer was locking up. I think it's the drivers with my 7900 gtx sli setup. I went back to the last driver set 169.**. So far no lockups.

like I said, try and open up NVIDIA control panel and let it sit for about 5 minutes and it should go back to normal.

at least this is what happens for me with the 175 drivers. 169 doesn't do this.

maybe 175 forces CP to rearrange itself or something.

when mine freezes up I don't even have a mouse and nothing changes after 15 mins. I'll stick with the older drivers.

Even with the older drivers I still get lockups with 46.. as soon as it loads it locks up once it gets past the loadup screen.....

Can someone post their game video settings for something like a Nvidia 7900 gtx sli?

I get the same problem as BC. Tried uninstalling\re-installing, no joy.
169 drivers are fine for now I guess.

The P-51 was just the P-47's kid sister, who was only more popular because she'd go farther.

Hmmm........
175.19?
Couldn't find them on Nvidia's site.
Only lists 175.16 as the latest. Strange. Sad

For those with the G92 core the new 177.41 are really nice, some performance increases and also allows folding@home with nvidia and also physx on the gpu! You need a moded .inf to install on 8800 G92's, you can find some here: http://www.overclock.net/software-news/349699-nvidia-fo...177-41-released.html
