I've just done a new build with an i7 920 processor, GTX 260 sli, 3 gig memory, vista 32.
I finally got my graphics all cleaned up and running at 1920x1200. (thanks for the reponses yesterday) My issue now is that witht he hardwareshaders set to 1 in open gl I get nasty stutters. I've changed a variety of settings in the config file and no matter what when shaders are set to 1 I stutter. I've tried different processor affinity, turned of thread optimization in the nvida control panel, shifted other settings there. The game runs silk smooth witht the shaders on 0. but the water looks really bad (esp on the shorelines). I can live with it that way but looking for any recent work in getting the stuttuers out. lot's of good advice in other threads but everything I have tried has not worked. Any help would be great. |

Extension Limit is also switched off?
If you changed settings in NVidia's control panel using the settings in the Profile for Sturmovik Forgotten Battles, try and change the global settings... what version are you running. it could well be partly due to the dll files you are using.
I have a similarish setup to you, an i7-940 and a gtx280. And until i downloaded what were then beta dll files with 4.09beta, the coastlines looked awful. I guess the 4.09 dll files should solve that, if not there are others around, there was at least 4 different ones released around 4.09 beta. I run the same res as you, with 16aa, 16as and get no performance issues with hardware shaders=1, and average 55ish fps with vsync on, so capped at 60. Your specs will do very similar, its just a question of tweaking the setup. fruitbat U___1)Nazi Germany built all the best things and won teh war. Posted this a few times before but it aplies to you also,
It should give you the best posible graphics for this game, Just edit your Conf.ini file like this: The Following is for NVIDIA (8 series and later) cards Only: Set everything in the nVidia controle pannel to Default/nVidia recomended... Than edit these into your OpenGL section of the Conf.ini file: [Render_OpenGL] TexQual=3 TexMipFilter=3 TexCompress=0 TexFlags.UseDither=1 TexFlags.UseAlpha=0 TexFlags.UseIndex=0 TexFlags.PolygonStipple=0 TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0 TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=0 TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=1 TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0 TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1 TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1 TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1 TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0 TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0 TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1 TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=0 TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=1 TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1 TexFlags.DepthClampNV=1 TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1 TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=1 HardwareShaders=1 Shadows=2 Specular=2 SpecularLight=2 DiffuseLight=2 DynamicalLights=1 MeshDetail=2 VisibilityDistance=3 Sky=2 Forest=3 LandShading=3 LandDetails=2 LandGeom=3 TexLarge=1 TexLandQual=3 TexLandLarge=1 VideoSetupId=17 Water=4 Effects=2 ForceShaders1x=0 PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15 PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0 After doing that Do NOT go into the games own Video settings or it will overwrite these changes again. In the nVidia Controle pannel under the profile for IL2 set these ONLY, leave all others default! Antialiasing - Mode = Override any application setting Antialiasing - Setting = 16xQ (or lower if it impacts performance to much) Antialiasing - Transparency = Supersampling Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration = Single display performance mode changing anything else than those to anything other than Default/Recomended might only give (more) glitches or/and slow down performance. All the other settings are set in the Conf.ini and could conflict with the nVidia controle pannel settings. As far as i know these are the best posible settings for the new nVidia cards so i hope these work for you also. p.s. dont forget before edeting the Conf.ini file to make sure you have OpenGL selected in IL2 Setup. And Download (if you have not done so already) Patch 4.09m from here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=10276 AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, Foxconn nForce 590 SLI, 4x OCZ 2048MB EPP DDR2-800, 2x Club3D GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Be-Quiet 700 Watt Straight Power, Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit |

I am using the 4.09 version. So it should be the dlls in that version.
scanning the config set up suggested here it looks like the one I am using. I need to print it though and reedit. I was using 4.09M .. Is the M version Beta or is that the final?? |
||||
|
4.09m is the final.
4.09b1m is the beta b1 = beta 1 m = merged (since FB+AEP+PF+addons). |

Dont know why they bothered to put "m" for merged behind it since it only works with IL2-1946 AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, Foxconn nForce 590 SLI, 4x OCZ 2048MB EPP DDR2-800, 2x Club3D GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Be-Quiet 700 Watt Straight Power, Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit |

Thanks, I am going to work on this today. It looks like others with similar systems are not having this issue.
Could be my SLI. I'm going to kill my config file and start over with the above settings and reset my nvidia control panel settings and start over there as well. will post results |

Thanks all, this worked.
I think it was the mix GPU that was causing the issue. I reset everything, changed the config file, then updated the nvidia settings and works fine. No stutters! For the recored I have the i7 920, GTX 260 core 216 (two in SLI mode), Vista 32, 3 gig memory, ASUS P6T Deluxe V2. I'm on the 191.07 Drivers October 2009 Thanks again |

Glad you got your game running wgkenney, what Nvidia settings are you using? Good hunting, Sillius_Sodus |
