Looks cool!

I see you've solved the one major problem of having the stick a bit too low to easily manipulate the hat switches... Track IR is installed on yer monitor!

Good work!!!

So how do the extended pedals feel? Also how hard were they to do and whats invovled, I'd love to do that myself.

They feel good, nice and solid thanks to a rail system (just like a drawer) I used on the sides of the pedals.
I'm going to post more pics and explain how they're built in the next few days(when I get some time). Thumbs Up

Ok...had some time to post some pics of the widened CH pedals.....

Here we are looking from the back....you can see the rails on the sides to prevent lateral movement and make them feel more solid...

close up of the rail.

As you can see, I cut the top off the pedal and built the extensions using aluminium angle and 25mm box.
Then just bend 4 pieces of flat to whatever angle you want the pedal, and screw the foot plate onto it on either side.
The brakes still work properly, and they slide just like normal.
The pics pretty much explain how to do the rails.
If you have any questions, just ask.
P.S...IMPORTANT - when cutting the pedal, DO NOT cut off the piece that holds the spring in place for the brake.

Nahhh buddy, nahh! 8 10-bit analog axes! What can you assign under HOTAS to any axis?
Hello! Stick is 2, rudder is 1, throttle is 1, prop pitch is 1 and 3 left for trim!

I already sent an email asking for ability to use 2 I/O pins in sets to make axes work
with optical encoding via mouse spoke wheel light bridge sensors. Hey, I want no calibration
needed and no playing with shielded cables and grounded pot covers... ie much simpler and
lower power draw IMO.

If I knew how to just tell Windoze to move an axis.............

Brillant Prop Strike, whens the Mod kit available ?... or some plans Smile

The only gripe I have with CH pedals is they are too close together.

I just built some pedals using an old sidewinder joystick. Over the next few days I hope to be able to use some its other buttons, sliders and axis for throttle, trim and additional cockpit functions. My joystick is a Trust 2600 and I'm quite pleased with it considering it was only £15.00, it has a HAT switch too which is nice.

However, for some reason the computer is detecting the MS sidewinder as the primary joystick which makes assigning HAT views very difficult on the 2600.

Anyone know how to get the computer (Windoze XP) to consider the 2600 to be the primary joystick?

There is no way ... Crying

But read this and maybe you can get the correct results bij editing the settings.ini file!

Good Luck!

Sure, when it's done. At the moment I'm having a little trouble with some, er, aspects of the mechanical/electronic interface. Work in progress and all that...

Wow, some impressive engineering going on here! For those of you interested in expanding your 'cockpits', you might like to consider one of Leo Lobnar's joystick controllers and making friends with the chaps at your local electronics shop ... Wink

Here's what I rustled up after a few cries for help and a lot of soldering.

Simviation Home Build Cockpits Forum

I have since installed red and green LED indicators for gear and hook status - pictures to follow.

Hi there fellow pilots! , I like so many of you wanted to build cheap rudder pedals from that old Joystick that sitting in the cupboard.
Been searching the web and these forums for ideas, some involved removing the potentiometers off the joystick or using part of the existing joystick.

So this was my second attempt,

First attempt :
I had a Saitek Cyborg 2000 had twist handle decided to use that at my rudder.
Had 2 piece of 30x30cm wood ,drilled holes for the base for the Joystick to sit on.
Turned that palm grip upside down and tighten the screws
Cut 2nd piece of wood to the thickness of the joystick halfway so it sit ontop of the palmgrip ,drilled holes attaching the wood to it. There done !! and build frame below it to sit on. (you get the idea ).

Anyway that lasted 3weeks was getting interference from the X and Y axis and decided to pull some wires out… Hammer !! stopped working and my soldering it lame O. Smash

OK !!! here is the Lay Mans version of building that rudder its so simple even I couldn’t believe myself!!!
Need 2 bolts with 3 washers each and nuts ( I use 2 on each bolt )
2 base plate preferred wood = cheap

There’s gonna be a lot of drilling and screwing around !! * Big Grin I was using a Microsoft Sidewinder Jstick lying around ,as you can see in the finished picture.

Remove the base of the Jstick and drill holes to the base plate note any wires in the Jsick , you don’t want any screws damaging the circuit board or wires.

Need to saw down the middle of the wood about halfway so it slots to the back .

In this first pic u can see the basic idea ,it’s the bolts and wire which gives the movements. The base plates gives me the angle for the foot rest and support.

**Note the vertical piece of wood that slots in the back of the joystick plate……suggest you make it wider (so it give a better sit on the floor)..see final pic…

and below that is a piece of wood for it to sit on ,which gives me the foot angle ,and screws so that it wont move.

Hey your done !!! isn’t that easy !!!! the pics are easy to understand.

When attaching the Bolts and between the wood pegs Bolt/washer//washer/screw/screw.
Tried using springs attaching the stick to the pegs but didn’t work not evenly space Jstick.
The wire I found lying around , you could use a string.
When tying the peg to Jstick plug it in first and keep the peg level ,making sure it centered.

More adjustment and final …had to make the footpegs longer ,the foot base got it from old joystick baseplate. (Logitech)

This gives me a ‘ wing ‘ type of pedal if u know what I mean……WAIT THERE’S MORE !!!!!!!>>>>>>>>>>>
If you turn the BASE upside down and slot the Jstick plate ontop it gives a ‘real ‘ type of slide action rudder.

Slight adjustment I had to make. Picture below ..note the angle of the wood (the pic is upside down reference to the top pic )

Now you have 2 style of rudder for your enjoyment…I had so much fun building this and scavenging the shed for parts …btw that’s not blood on the floor!!!! Too Happy didn’t saw any fingers off!!!.
See **note ** above
<Salute> hope I helped someone in starting building their own rudders , this forum sure helped me.
She's not pretty but who looks under the desk!! bow
