Per this request.. which IMO is a good idea and can only enhnace simming iun general and the sales of this series and the next one in particular, I will sticky this here since this forum has so few stickies. So have at it guys......
BC It would be great to have a separate forum for this. Has it been asked for before? There are some really interesting hardware projects going on in a number of different threads and forums. Would be good to have these discussions all in one place. A few examples: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/49310655/m/7201027043 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/49310655/m/7881032134 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/6981032134 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/3041056034 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/2531022134 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m...721080824#9721080824 http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m.../662102924#662102924 This message has been edited. It's a nice idea but I don't think it would warrant a seperate forum? I think the best we could hope for would be a stickie as simpits a stick mods tend to be a bit of a sporadic past time.
If you colate all the threads of this nature most that I have seen (with one or two notable exceptions) are, in order of general complexity Stick mods Home built Rudder pedals Cockpits Glass cockpits - this one being a personal favourite of mine but a very pricey one and more suited to sims with active cockpit controls such as MSFS Of course all of these can be as complex or as simple as you like .... Vhs case for an enclosure to Heat moulded IKEA tea tray courtesy of Orheim In fact now that I think about it there is actually a website of sorts dedicated to this kind of project. http://www.simpits.org A part of http://a.webring.com/hub?ring=cockpits |

Actually after reading those threads through properly, maybe some kind of dedicated il2 pitbuilders forum / website realy is in order?
There is a hell of a lot of information on this subject that is scatterd around numerous forums here and perhaps some effort to centralise info is required before it dissapears down the lists again ? |

The situation is similar to the dedicated servers, which is another special interest area, but it has a main thread (not sticky all the time, but easy to find, and directly bookmarked by many of us). It usually pops up time and again with new info/question etc.
Something similar needs to be done for the modders/builders: - writing a good overview arcticle as a start - linking all good threads and external sites into this thread on a regular basis - when there is a surge in activities/outcomes, it could be stickied for a week or so. |

Maybe not that many "pit builders" to justify a separate forum here.
There is a "Pit Builders" forum over at SimHQ: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=137 Papa_K |

Yes I did wonder about that one but I notice that he does a variation that incorporates something called
USB Load Cell Interface Any body know what the hell that means? http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/joystick/index.html |

i think that's for buttons only

Yeah I kinda suspected as much but thanks for the conformation

Load cells are used to measure force. Most commonly used in weighing machines. When I emailed the suggested use in flight sims was for simulating hydraulic toe operated brakes where there is virtually no movement and for certain joysticks with no movement.

Ok, is for rich "grognards", but interesting, it means that he has somebody looking at the sides of WWII simmers, maybee in the future is had more accessible options.
Pré-production version, to be shown in London Air Show this month. http://www.simcontrol.co.uk/offboard.htm S! Sokol1 |

Well that boosted the cost of my new system for BOB, from somehwere in the region of 4 to 5000 pounds (triple monitor system) to more like 7000 thousand quid. Screw it I might just by a motion platform as well. Or a VR headset. |

Hmm for that kinda money I think I might look into a welding torch and some decent machine tools.
Nice looking rig though |

Hi Guys....
I have finished building the joystick box and widening the CH pedals. I have still got to paint the front end of the cockpit....was just testing everything. I'll post more photos of the pedals if anyone is interested. Here's some pics.... My Dad basically did all the hard work, as he's better with tools....but we both worked out the design based on JD Hayes'(from Black Sheep Show Team) sketches that he was kind enough to send us. A big thanks goes out to JD(who flew Corsairs in the Black Sheep TV show - cool!) and also my 'Old Man', who's still rockin' at 60!!! 1st Sqn, Volunteer Pursuit Group.
